Simple Question
« on: December 18, 2008, 05:50:45 PM »
I was just wondering, why do half of the people in the forums have a different name than the name they use in game?

is a forum name unchangeable?

if they cant change their forum name to match their in-game name, then why don't they do as some others have done and put their in game name in the sig line?

some people in here run their mouths about just how great they are or that they would NEVER do this or do that, but then they have a different name so you don't know who really is or can live up to all the trash they talk and who isn't/can't.

what are they afraid of? why must they hide their identity? are they just shy?

i am i, in game and in the forums you know my name.

my flying sux as bad as my grammar does so what? in the game or in the forum what you see is what you get.

Before I ever flew online, I came here to read and see what kind of community this is. (Oh, and I still went online anyway  :D)

I used to fly Falcon4 (only offline) so used ViperDriver for my BBS name.  Once I went online, I picked ImADot as my in-game callsign.  I couldn't find a way to change my BBS handle, so just left it and created a new one to match my in-game name.  I don't care about post counts, scores, ranks, etc., so was no big deal for me to start over.
My Current Rig:

Intel i7 5820k, Win7 64-bit
NVidia GTX 970 4Gb ACX 2.0

I HAD made my forum account at a different point than i made my ingame name. i can't remember which i did first, but for some reason, i thought they had to be different. pretty stupid of me in hindsight.
you'll notice in my sig, though, i've placed my ingame name there.

ya......mostly because that's where i live!!

why else would i 1)choose to fix cars for a living, and 2)buy my own shop so i can work more, harder, and bring home less?, and 3) try to turn the 38 vs a couple spits, ki, f4u, and i think another p38 in the mix(i was mostly bait in that engagement)  :aok :rofl

CAP is addicted to the 38.  Always nice to see another one get hooked :)

As for the BBS ID.  I had this long before CorkyJr.  Guppy was the nickname of a 38 pilot in my favorite Fighter pilot book.  Guppy had no interest in becoming a super duper fighter pilot.  He was just trying to stay alive.  He liked the 38, but he spent his time trying to drink himself out of combat.

Seemed like the perfect fit for my cartoon 38 pilot :)

well, in the RR arenas in AW3, i flew it all the time. it was a rude awakening when i tried it here, and to be honest, i was afraid of it for awhile. i kept spinning, stalling, and generally being nothing more than a target. now, with more experience with this flight model, and help from all of you guys(you all know who yas are), i'm able to fly it, and even kill in it sometimes.
it's actually satasfying to just land rounds on a con, especuially in a multi-con engagement. it's much harder than it is in a spit, or hurri. but that's also the fun in her too. you get guys that see a p38, and think"easy kill". then 2 or 3 minutes later, one of yas is in the tower.

last night, i was in  a 38G, and went to engage an f4u that was co-a;t at approx. 10k. he flew right by me, going for bootleg. boot gave me a friggin beautiful setup, and i blew it. only took a few parts off of him. in the meantime, a fw dropped on me. now, it was me vs 2......i finally got the fw(i think) but less than 2 seconds later, the other got me. was the most fun fight i had last night. it was in MW over A7. <<S>> to you guys too.

i took one bomber run last night....it's the first flight i took not in a 38 this month.

<<S>>

oooo...and ya.....i am addicted to the twin tailed devil.   :devil
