Lazs...finally ordered the Henry today
« on: December 19, 2008, 10:40:44 PM »
Yup....ordered the .45 LC.  Friend of mine arranged a very good price.

They've gone up 100 dollars in price since July.

How do you like yours?  Anything I should expect?

They had a .44Mag on hand but since I have a Vaquero .45LC I ordered the .45LC Bigboy.

Didn't look at the ammo prices for 45LC.....when I pick up the Henry I plan on purchasing more winchester ammo.

How much did it increase?

Lazs has moved, with others, to a flameable forum.

I work p/t at a gunshop (for the enjoyment ,not the money) and all my shooting buddies that own the Henry absolutly LOVE them. Many of them shoot cowboy action ( which is hard on a gun ) and would probably sell their wives before there Henrys.(J/K)

Have fun <S>

Diablo thanks.  I knew Lazs had the .44 mag version of the Henry.  Good to know also that most feel the Henry is worth it.

Bah. Get a Spencer.  ;)

.45 LC is actually a really good version to get, you can use the same ammo in pretty much any of the main-line repros for the period, including military- Schofield, some Spencers, M1873 Colt (aka "Peacemaker"), etc. I think even some of the sporting versions of the Sharps can be had in .45 LC. Not limited to using a different ammo for every weapon you carry.

Treize that is exactlly what I am doing.

I have a Ruger Vaquero Sheriffs Special in .45 LC.

Have a Colt Combat Commander (ACP).

The only stepchild is the model 94 30/30.

The Henry fits in nicely.

My ruger vaquero is chambered in .40 S&W, same ammo used by Sherriff and CHP.  The gun is a "second", slightly flawed San Diego County Sheriff commemorative edition without the custom laser engraved grips.  Either my Dad or brother got one with the custom grips, but they were slightly off as well which was why they were included with the gun.  It was about a $800 gun if I recall correctly, and I got it for about $250 (again if I recall correctly) because they pooched the engraving on a whole bunch and let law enforcement officers in the area buy them cheap.

It's a nifty gun, but the sights are pretty far off.  If it wasn't a commemorative edition, I'd probably shave off the front blade sight since it's too tall.  It shoots straight though, even though it's a sixgun using auto ammo.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

My next planned purchase is either an 1875 Schofield or an 1873 Colt, either one in .45 LC. Need a later-period replacement for my 1858 Remington .44 percussion. :)
