New AFK idea (no, not for kicking someone out of the arena)

It cam to me last night after I was shot down, wike I was AFK. Its something we could do within the next patch, when we have one. The idea is that when you are AFK, and when you click on the AFK button, it shows it to your con, underneath the red icon. This will give the option weather or not to shoot that plane down.
I only thought of one negitive to this idea and already I have thought of a counter to it. People may abuse it and fly around with it on, but you know he is not AFK when you see him killing another person.

What do you think?

Waste of time and effort.

Don't go AFK unless you expect to be shot down.  If upon your return you find your airplane still flying feel fortunate you didn't encounter an enemy in a position to shoot you down.

I think its a bit unneeded really  There is in my mind little difference between killing someone on auto-climb who is not at their computer and someone auto-climbing with awful SA.  Either way, your killing a sensory-deprived (through one system or another) pilot.  Making icons even larger wouldn't help anything, and would definitely be abused.

If it makes you feel any better Bosco, very few of the AFK people you've shot down were actually AFK.

If I were in a buff flying a long way, hell, even if I was in my gunners turret I'd hit the AFK button to ward off cons...

Nawwww, the dickens you say!

How about a little flashing 0 bellow the plane.  Like a strobe light that says, "Target sleeve, fire at will!"

I have gone AFK in both bombers and fighters.  And to tell the truth, I count myself lucky every time I don't get shot down while AFK.  Some times you just have to go AFK, but anything that says "Hey I'm AFK" would be just a big "COME GET ME!" signal.  (Spacer has gone hunting AFK planes many times!  Love those easy kills!)
   If you dont want to get shot down while AFK, dont go AFK!

Oooh, oooh, oooh...how's about instead of changing icon to show AFK, it just makes your plane invisible or indestructable!!  Nobody would abuse it then.   





Or better yet, if you feel the need to fly a long boring mission, plan ahead and then take your punishment for choosing the long and boring mission.
