Unsinkable CV's
« on: December 24, 2008, 11:46:33 PM »
Here lately me and a bunch of my squaddies have been running into CV's that can not be sunk at all.
We had a cv tonight that I hit with 3 Ar234 with dead on hits, took a lot of fire from a 110 and took at direct hit by Lancaster's dropping 9,000 lbs of bombs and hitting directly without nothing happening. Now able to destroy the guns and radar and things but not sink regardless of how much it is hit.

2 nights ago 2 squaddies hit a CV with 2 sets of 26s and shelled it from a shore battery hitting more than a dozen times. Damage was inflicted but it did not sink.

Yes, that seems to be the current trend..
Right now, it takes so much explosive tonnage to kill one,
that they start self repairing before you can sink it..

I recently hit one 26 times w Cruiser 8inch guns.. Another
player registered a bunch more hits with 8inch as well...
AND, another player pounded it with a full Lankload...
It STILL didn't sink... Pretty rediculous!!!

Its very reminiscent of the way Tigers were, a little while
back.... Bombproof? LOL!!!

Or about a year ago, somebody was messin with the auto ack..
So it changed overnight, started killing at 5k out, with a single
cockpit shot... It was so unrealistic that the game became a
bit of a joke...

Unkillable CV's is more of the same...

Yep. Once was in MW and spent an hour upping every bomber in the game trying to sink a CV. 3 sets of 88s, 2 sets of lancs, a set of 25s. Thing wouldn't sink.

If you are Chief31 then:

You have to HIT the CV for it to do any damage....you missed with the 234s I know becuase I was commanding that CV.

Well Banshee I upped 3 sets but two hit and some squaddies hit it as well. So one bomber out of 4 sets missed the CV. ONe set of those bombers were lancs and peppered it with 9,000 lbs of bombs. Still does not count for the fact it should have been sunk.

Must have been a glitch. I routinely Bomb with a formation of Lancs by myself and 9 sets of 1000 lb bombs sinks it if properly placed. Sank one that way Dec 30.
I always wanted to fight an impossible battle against incredible odds.

Slate this doesnt happen with every CV you may encounter. It seems to be either one or two CVs for the entire map. The problem is once someone figures that out they can move the CV right up to a base and not have to worry about anything cause it wont sink

Ok I guess you would have to figure out what CV# it was. Maybe the Big E it was pretty much unsinkable. Was the Enterprise CV-6?

Yesterday in Orange arena (TT-map/ndisles) I hit CV with formation of b26's. Direct hit for already burning CV and it didnt sunk. After that full loaded P38 , direct hit again and no joy...

Usually one formation of B26's will sink it.

When hitting a Carrier, U need to hit it with at least 8,000 lbs with in 15 mins.  After 15 mins(Could be less) , the carrier regenerates.  1 way to tell if u need to hit the CV again with at least 8k bombs is if it smoking or not.  Fire means nothing, smoke does.
