Pony is considered a war winner because of it's amazing distance ability allowing the U.S. to effectively bomb it's enemies into a pulp.  The aircraft is excellent at altitude where it was used, and if you keep your speed up, it's hard for a spit to compete.

I agree though, Spitfires are excellent aircraft simply because of how easy they were to fly.  Took next to no training, they had great flight characteristics.  This is very apparent in-game, usually why people call Spits dweeby.

Annnd then the rest of your post just didn't make sense.

Later, the Spit grew a pair and became a Mossie.

Oh yeah, it's ON.

 :rock
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

Spitfire isn't a war winner, if you think about it defensively, it is. Offensively, where it needed lots of range, it was terrible. Thats where the Jug, P38, and P-51 beat it at.
No one knows what the future may bring.

no point in having a long range plane with nowhere to fly it from.  "We owns all your bases"

If Churchill went for peace after dunkirk the world would as we know it would be a very different place.

spot on bruv, that's the same impression i got from  galland's book. what really annoyed me though was galland’s biting criticism of u.s bomber crews in their perilous daylight bombing missions in a war that a-holes like galland almost treated as a sport. i thought it was a pretty good insight into his true character

but the spitfire, along with the hurri, did win the war

when the spitfire was winning the war those other planes hadn't been invented yet...as far as the war was concerned anyways.
