I'd like to see some improvements to Film Recorder

I use the Film recorder to figure out how the HELL I get trashed in one-circle fights with energy/alt advantage.  However, the film recorder is difficult to use:

1) All views are slaved to the aircraft.  I can't get a stable "floating eye" view to see how both aircraft maneuvered.

2) I can't see enemy tracer fire, and thus can't tell when the enemy thought he could start hitting me, or how effective my jinking was.

3) I don't have information on the altitude and airspeed of the opposing aircraft.  Falcon 4.0's ACMI recording has this and would help explain why I sometimes THINK I see an aircraft just taking off, yet see him climbing to catch me while I'm WEPing level at 5000' above.

Is there anything in the works to improve the Film recorder?

This is one of the weakest things in AH IMO.
If you've seen the film recorder/playback in FA2 you know what's missing. Sure FA2's a joke but the playback features are great.
You can jump into the other persons plane <after he shoots you down :-/> and rewind the film to see what moves he made...great feature IMO. Keyboard controls so you dont have to use the resource hogging clipboard....I could go on and on...I hope that the film recorder will be revamped sometime when HiTech's resources are available.

I would like to get a gun camera mode that operates like the gun cameras on WW2 planes.  In this mode it would only record when you were holding the trigger and a little bit after. (5 seconds?)

Film from each sortie would be saved in a seperate file.

I totally agree, if there's one thing that really needs a good working on its the film/viewer system.

What about it HT?

Great Ideas with the camera...I think it should have more functionality with sounds, views, airspeed of both aircraft, closure rate, and tons of other stuff...I believe that HT and crew are working heavily on the next update, So it's kind of hard say what may be appering next go around...Who's knows, they may allready have all this stuff for the next update. But as I've said before in other posts, It's really hard to maintain something as big as this sim, and have to update on top of it...Good job HT and crew...Keep up the good work.

Don't make it too good. I disagree with jumping into other pilots planes. Learn by *your* own power, not by half cheating.

Same with closure rate etc; judge it fo yerself; ya have big neon icons giving it away.

I'd like to see ack and enemy plane tracers, where available. Just did a deack training mission,w as very proud of me sghuting it down, only to find no ack firing tracers on the film.

Also, the ability to *edit* a film would be nice - mind you, not cutting pieces from one place and inserting them another, rather being able to delete pieces that are boring.

Since recorder function also as a kill confirmer, there could be a visual cue (a little scissors for five scissors in the righ upper corner maybe?) that'd tell anyone when something is cut out.

I'm in definate agreement.  I'll leave Lars comments on my prior game alone, but I will say that the camera of FA2 is a great tool.  I do like the trail feature of the current camera but the most useful item would be the "floating" eye, using my mouse to get the angle I want to see and be able to zoom in and out with the mouse buttons.

While I'm at it..question?  In AH can you record multiple films inside the game during a sortie..turn camera on and off and each time it saves it as a seperate file?  In FA you originally couldn't do this until a great flyer made a utility and VR-1 got smart and added it into it's current version.

Yes you can.

One thing (if HT reads this) I WANT WANT WANT..

is a frame by frame advance.

This would make screenshot taking so much easier in life.

You can slow the film replay back to a very slow speed.  THere's a slider bar that appears in the clipboard during replay.  Slide it to the left, and the replay slows down.  Slide it to the right, and replay speeds up.

It's a little ungainly, because once you start fiddling with the slider, the film begins to play automatically.
