I clearly have good nights and bad nights. On a bad night the plane (any plane) feels slow and clumsy and unmaneuverable. On a good nigth the same plane can do wonders. I have even began to suspect that there is some randomizer in the game which gives you better or worse FM when you log in  :noid

It is just weird... a bad night does not get any better regardless of how hard or how many times one bangs his head on the wall :)
Maybe someone should do a doctorate research on the subject.... or maybe it is all about Csikszentmihalyi and the Flow

I think it is a slow progression from being intent and focused to ...not so much.

I get in a ride and do very well for a while then I find my focus wans and then I start making decisions I shouldn't.

switching to a different ride "resets" the focus switch and I'm good again all of a sudden, rinse and repeat

I have tried to fly one plane and get good in it.No luck here. After about week and half i was getting picked off by zip codes lol. My problem was not the plane but me,i was trying stuff the plane was not capable off  and engaging  other fighters  which were far superior to mine. Now I got about 10 favorite ones i rotate and choose for the type of fight i  think i might be in. It seems to work for me now.

I too have been suffering from the can't hit nada days. Going on day four now. This morning it finally was enough. It seemed as if my bullets were literally going through the planes without flashes/and causing damage. I re-installed game but haven't played it at all today so taking the day off from it. Hopefully by tomorrow or Monday, it'll be back to normal and I just miss little bit more less.

This is one of those things I too am affected with I have great days and very bad days so I rotate aircraft around a bit . Or I'll try doing different stuff and sometimes even grab a P-40 for a roll or too . If it gets too hum drum I end up sitting in the tower somewhere and stare at the hanger a while . I had written a post a while back and got good help from lots of the community for help on this , it was lots of remedies so I tried them all and most of them worked to a degree .
But I still fight this problem , but the game is still fun most of the time so I play .
                                                                                                         Nutte :uhoh
Don't be afraid to put it out there , if it gets cut off it'll grow back
On your mark , Get set , go away !

It's not the plane so much in my experience. As a shootist what throws me off is changing weapon systems in a variety of ways:

1) Whenever I switch between purely wing mounted guns to a nose or cowl mounted system it messes up my aim for a long time. There are very different mental aiming routines that are changed. This in turn makes you devote a lot of your task loading resources on thinking about your aim when you're engaged.

2) While not as pronounced the same can be said for switching between planes with a single gun/round weapon-types to one with various primary and secondary banks of guns that fire very different rounds. Again task loading is a factor as you must micromanage then when/if/how why to use which set or not.

3) More to do with the plane is something I will mention until the day I die. NOTHING is more important for an aircraft than a great nose-low view over the visually obstructing engine cowling. I actually measured the distance in AH for all forward firing aircraft to determine the best.

I pruned down my planes the the top 10 nose low deflection planes that seem fun to fly also. I really don't think people are fully understanding the significance of excellent gunnery view. It increases everything offensive: minimizes blind shots and opens up a huge repertoire of shotmaking not available to the remainder of the planeset. This is important in that those playing with the nose low planes will improve their gunnery five time as fast as those confined by forward view plane geometry to only 2 or 3 basic shots...

On side note. I'm open to learning new planes but being there are quite few, hard to decide. I know alot of former pony dweebs like to fly the P38 but I would like to avoid that since its common place already. I wouldn't mind learning the 109s but don't think my patience would serve me well with it. Any suggests on planes?
