Anyone else have this disorder??
« on: January 03, 2009, 01:41:54 AM »
I seem to have hot and cold periods with different aircraft..  I will fly the jug with nothing but success for a week or 2, then as if somebody threw a switch, I cant hit anything, I become a con magnet. Im good for little more than serving as the local bullet sponge..

switch to the P38.. good times again.. for a while.. then same thing happens with that ride..  switch again, maybe back to the jug, maybe to a F6F, or a G2..   and so on and so on etcetc.

I see quite a few folks who spend, perhaps not all but the VAST majority of their time, in one plane..  which makes sense, the longer you fly a particular aircraft the more proficient you will become in it..  doesent seem to work that way with me... If i just sit there and FORCE myself to stay in one ride I will just get worse and worse.  Im guessing its all psychological.

It is.

I'm suffering from the same disorder. I have about a dozen planes that I prefer, but couldn't bear being stuck in a single type for more than a tour... and even that would be more "work"  than fun.

So many planes, so little time ... ;)

:rofl :rofl :rofl Wow I didn't know there any other planes than the f4u1a. I really need to expand. Use to fly the f6 alot but the spixteens put a dampner on that. Still like the f6 though. Great mission plane. How Greebo does it I really don't know. But I'm watching.

Flew the dora for the first time ever last camp and the a8 for the first time a few month's ago. Flew the TA152 a bunch about 6 camps ago. Fly the pony every so often.

Back to the subject. Well I have my ups and downs in my favorite plane. I usually think what did I do wrong. Today I augered in an f4. How do you auger in an f4!!! Doh. Oh well!

I notice when i switch to a another plane type that I focus on my task more.  I also fly slightly more conservatively.  Once you get used to a plane you get bolder and pay less attention.  Once this happens I tend to take foolish chances.

When I'm doing bad, I take up a C-Hog get 5 or 6 kills, then land it. I don't think I got killed at all during the December tour in the C-Hog.

Well, the plane doesnt change. :)

I get this too sometimes, but more less in different nights. One night I'll go 20 and 1 and the next night I'll go 1 and 20.

Nutt,
You need to start all over, clear your house of old things and begin new,,,,, start with getting rid of that cat....  :lol

I'm with you!  I may be too supersticious but i see that exact phenomenon... I even find it easier to get kills ranked under 100???  Ok maybe thats in my head!  I do definitely see the flight model changing just as you observe.  Right now the 51 and 109s are everywhere and doing unbelievable things.  The easiest thing to change for HT is the power the bullets have and/or the damage a model takes.  Its a number in the program... change it and you change the game considerably.  Makes sence to me as everyone has a favorite plane and what fun would it be if it sucked all the time... everyone would be flying either the best Z&B or the best turn fighter (i'll let you pick the models) in short order.  They have to... its up to us to find the tricks.

Ive experienced this. One night, everything I look at falls out of the sky in flames, I can't miss. Then other nights my bullets are made of air, every single ping I recieve removes something real important and I have to log before my blood pressure reaches critical levels. I think it's a connection or latency thing. The other night I had NKL5 hanging in a P38, D 200, right in front of me like he was saying "here is my gift to you, just shoot me". A second day noob could have made this shot. Opened up with a big grin and.....Nothing, he flew away unscathed and reversed. As a counter point, the other day I took an A8 appart with .50s from D800 with just a short burst. Weird crap for sure.

I too see the same thing: some nights I cannot miss, other nights I cannot hit a thing.  I am sure it is just chance, but I always explain it to myself as my position in the servers que.  Afterall the server has to handle someone first and someone else last ;)  I presume that good days I'm near the head of the que, bad days I'm at the bottom.  That's my (spurious) excuse anyway.
