109E-4 and 109F-4, Turning
« on: January 02, 2009, 05:12:58 PM »
lately I have been having a blast flying the E-4

corning lone enemys and making them hurt for trying to turn fight

but I was wondering, if the 109F-4 would be better to use for corning people and simply out-turning them

I know its got more power in engine and the cannon is better

I was thinking of moving to the 109F-4 in the near future, after I have had my fun in the E-4

The f-4 is almost spit like....just remember throttle off rolling to the right when slow.

If you can fly the Emil well, you'll start to laugh when you take up the Friedrich.

I love the F4 for CV fights. Turning ability of the A6M, agility of the Seafire, and power to kill an F6F or F4U. Don't take the 109E up that often, don't know much about it.

E-4 is slow, not a great climber, but a good turner. A flat turn with an E-4 can out turn a spixteen. Cannons are decent, not great, but it can kill anything.

Come on now ... "Turning ability of the A6M" ... I think not.

In some instance I have out-turned A6M's. Not saying the pilot was good, but it was in a flat turn. It was rough, but I pulled off the shot.

OH-9s are zeke food low and slow. That said, If you can get into a possition to pull off a good stall turn at the top, you can get your guns on a zeke, briefly. Make it count. Otherwise, your dogmeat.

In a comparison of one aircraft versus the other - a flat turn fight with a zero is pretty dangerous in the 109 (Even the F). Not saying it's impossible, but if it was a sustained flat turn for a good few seconds, assuming the zero driver is pulling hard enough, it should overtake the 109.

I would much rather fight a Zero in the vertical with the 109.

Nevertheless. The E has a bit of upside in turning radius on the F, but the F has a more powerful engine which will come in handy in the vert.  :aok

Well I'm going to go ahead and say I probably couldn't do it again, maybe with a little luck, but still...it is possible, not even 50% of the time, but it is.

Any shot on a Zeke counts, they fall apart like a cheap Transformers knockoff.

The E-4 has an 11-15 yard tighter turn radius, but the F-4 sustained turn speed is 10-14mph faster, and has a slightly better rate of turn (0.4 dps).  The F-4 is much faster than the E-4 at all altitudes.  I think you'll enjoy it if you like flying the E.

The 109f4 also has extremly good handling at the power off stall in the verticle. The plane is very controllable and has plenty of tork to roll your nose around. Intantaneous turn rate when very fast 400 ish is just awsome.

Although the e4 has the turn advantage and does turn with all the "turny" planes it is seriously lacking in engine power. E4 just doesn't have enough power or speed to be offensive more than a few turns before you are being controlled by alt. This assumes we have two similar skilled pilots. Im not talking about killing newbs.

Any 20 eny or less plane can easily out maneuver and kill a 109e4 if flown correctly against the E4. E4 is fun to fly in a tight furball but if you engeage more serious opponents its gonna be luck if you win.

The 109f4 on the other hand can easily kill any plane including zeeks "if they choose to fight". Of course your subject to repeated high speed attacks like any other plane but if you get inside d1.5 and start turning ....man oh man the other guy better not make any mistakes.

My favorite characteristic that the F has over the E is that it can accelerate coming out of a slow turn better than most other planes in the game.
