Just a nice time waster... Dendork. Got a lot of attention. BTW Tildeath, on one of your links 59 degrees and it was saying to hot. I run AMD 9850. I realize this is warm but is 59 to hot? I am overclocked to 2.9 ghz  and run liquid cooled. Idle I run 30 degrees. Should I back it down a bit?

Death do you mean 59 Fahrenheit or Celsius?  I really hope it is not actually at 59C.  The maximum temp for AMD x4 9850 is 61C; you are pushing it if it is at 59C.

AMD site:

Voltages     1.05-1.3V
Max Temps (C)    61'C
Wattage    125 W

http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCPUDetail.aspx?id=449&f1=&f2=&f3=&f4=&f5=&f6=&f7=&f8=&f9=&f10=

Just be glad you do not have a Brisbane core like I do.  Would never know true temp!

60c is fine for most Intel CPUs, is it warm, yes, is it dangerous warm no, not close.  If your maxed (meaning you are full stress for 2 plus hours) at 60c on an  Intel chip, don't worry, your not going to get to that 70c scare point unless your ambient temp changes to much warmer, fan or pump failure.  I can not speak for AMD, don't own one, never owned one, never will own one.  Hence me stating check with Manufactures specs for temps.  If 61c is your cap then your feeding to much voltage.  As stated in other posts. OCing is not what can you get your CPU to post at to be stable but what will it take stress wise, and this includes the North and South Bridges and Mem.  That's the real trick to overclocking.  If it were so easy there would not be competitions cause everyone would have the same ability with the same components.

OK I tested my video card running as I would run the setting playing aces high.

Now....just to say your numbers are higher is not important.  I can reset my video cards with a lower resolution, move sliders to performance as opposed to quality, disable antialiasing and anisotropic filtering and disable vert. refresh, mipmap detail etc. then I get a world beating score!

Instead I left my video cards as I use them...yes they....... I'm running ATI 4850s Crossfire.

My score with detail setting, not performance was 254.  Never saw anything below a FR of 245 fp/s and testing at 1280/1024 resolution.

So in essence....the test can give you anything you want.

The key is to leave the setting where you use them in game with refresh rate on monitor being the key.

Agreed.  My settings we all the way up in other words unchanged.  But I do run my stuff OCed and stable.  Display settings were/are 1680 x 1050

Please do not use this program as something to tell you if you need a new video card.  It is canned to provide NVidia cards a higher score than ATI cards, even in the cases where ATI cards are much faster.

I am thinking the score is more about how hot the video card runs, rather than the actual performance.  The higher the score, the hotter the card runs.  Either way, it uses a hacked DirectX dll file.  You cannot know what is going on there.

That explains some things to me. As soon as I ran it I started having VC issues where I never had any before. I reloaded my drivers and that seems to help. Should I reinstall directx too?

Should not hurt to do so Getback.  The hacked file it installs should not be used by any other program, unless they are hacking the registry as well when they install it.

I'll have to put together a trash system to find out.

This whole thing puts me out a bit.  If it was an innocent hack, then why not openly explain it?  It is not offered on thier WEB site at all.  You guys really do not know what you could be getting into running/installing this.

I don't think I will ever install another program listed in the forums until I have verified evidence of it's nature. That OCCT program couldn't even be scanned by my AV. Now this issue. Shame on me. I am usually very careful.

It is using a hacked DX9 DLL file.  There is no way this is a valid benchmark/test.  If it cannot use the standard supplied DX9 DLL then something is very wrong.

Thanks for posting this, saved me some wasted time and HD space (not that I have a shortage of the latter).
