Currently we can steer GVs from the turrets. Why not just allow shifting gears/etc from the guns as well?
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I HAVE pedals, that's how I know I can steer from the turret.

I'd like to be able to traverse turret while in commanders position.

It'd be nice to have a real throttle in GVs and to be able to map it to the pedal (ie right hand toe brake).

I looked up the driving on a real T34.  There are throttle, brake, and clutch pedals just like in a car.  Ignoring the clutch, the throttle and brake could be mapped to the right and left pedal toe brakes.  Steering is done by two levers to disconnect the clutch on the left or right track or, pulling further back, engage the brake for the respective track.  I guess this kind of all or nothing steering is why tanks always seem to jerk when turning.  This could be mapped to the stick, sort of.  Or it could even be a keyboard mapping as it's an all or nothing affair.

I think this would make driving tanks more fun.  It would also be nice if they could turn sharper, ie turn like you'd expect if one track is braked and the other powered.

No, separate car pedals. Or twist for throttle/break, and rudder travel for turret remote.
And we could really use torque break to rotate tanks in place, for those that could.

Well, I was replying to someone else. Shoulda put in the quote, sorry.
Gear shift and turret remote controls would be great too, yep.. Even if just cardinal remote controls in the turret's case.

Just make 2 buttons, one to rotate turret left, one right.

thats what its called.... ive asked for that many times before, just didnt know what it was called but we can already downshift to hold speed, but you still have to pull back on the stick every few seconds just to maintain the speed, throttles like a PT and shifting from the turret, torque brake(thought it was nuetral drive), etc... would all be great additions to gv's and put a little more interest in it, although it has enough

On the T34 if you pull back on the steering lever it disengages the clutch for that track.  If you pull further back, it starts applying brake for that track; further back is more braking.  A report on the web of someone who got to drive a T34 off road stated that just disengaging the track clutch didn't really make the tank turn, he had to apply brake.

You can steer just fine using the rudder keys (D)(F) from turret too.

I don't get why you even typed that, you know it's stupid.

stodd,

My point was:

We can steer from the turret, we should be able to change gears, and shut down the engine, too.

Just make 2 buttons, one to rotate turret left, one right.

Just my 2c, I'd rather have four buttons to order cardinal positions, and if HTC doesnt mind the extra buttons, both that and left/right remote commands.
