New PC and Trouble
« on: January 04, 2009, 03:55:15 PM »
I broke down and bought some stuff, New Motherboard, Memory, Hard Drive and Video card
Im Getting an Error when I launch AH from my Desktop.

Im Running Windows XP Service Pack 3

AMD Athlon 64 x2 Duel Core Processor 500+ 2.60 Ghz With 2 gigs of Ram

Im also using the on board video Card its an ATI x1200 Series. I have a PCI Express card in the box waiting to go if needed. I figured I wouldn't stop me from launching the game but may help in game play.

I have downloaded the Hotfix Patch & AMD CPU drivers from the info I got in the Sticky above < Still nothing >
I also tried the Quick Icon fix < Still nothing >

So Before I go into Regedit Fix, I quess my question is can I do it running Service Pack 3 or do I need to go back to SP2 Or do I need to go in another Direction.

Thanks As Always :aok

whats the error? Do you have a sound card, with drivers installed? Game won't run without a sound card. Do you have at least DX9? Just a couple things to check.

Delete the game and reinstall. Easiest troubleshoot idea. If it still happens, I am sure you will get other possible solutions. Make sure you didn't install Vista Aces High. I am unsure if that may be problem also.

There is no 'Vista Aces High.' Thats a link to tell Vista users how they 'should' install AH on a Vista machine.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

Correct Chalenge.  There is no special version of Aces High II for Vista.  We only put a special instruction page up for Vista users so they would be told about the problems when installing an application in the "Program Files" folder.

Need to see a DXDIAG ouput.

Ran DXDIAG looks like the on board Audio is not working. Went into Device Manager seems I have 2 problems there.
1 is SM Bus Controller
2 is High Definition Auto Driver setup

Not much time tonight to work on these will try tomorrow

Thanks

Tom

PS  Skuzzy after I get that fixed and it still doesn't work should I E-Mail the DXDIAG report to you?

Well the only problem I have now is the High Definition Sound.

Still having the same problem. So question is Is Fugitive right? I have to have a sound card or On board sound working?

Skuzzy I will email you with the Error file I get when launching and the DirectX file.

Thanks

Tom

Aces High II requires a functioning DirectX supported sound card.  If DXDIAG is saying there is not sound card, then the game cannot work.

Before you install the new sound card (if you haven't gotten it already, I highly recommend the X-fi Extreme Gamer version, not the Fatal1ty version), make sure that you've uninstalled the onboard HD sound in your BIOS.

*edit* when I mean uninstalled, I should have stated 'disabled' instead.

Just got home....funny I did buy a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio.

So I went into BIOS And Disabled the HD Audio Azalia Device.

Then I enabled the Auto Detect PCI Slot.   I figured it would work .................  Nope  :furious

I start Winblows and it says FOUND NEW HARDWARE

I put the CD that came with the Sound Card Hit Install and get the message

Setup is unable to detect a supported Product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running setup.

Well Off to the Creative WEB site   any Ideas  :pray
