Not Showing Up on Friendly DAR
« on: January 07, 2009, 08:01:31 AM »
My wish would be that we had an option to disable your radar signature for missions to other friendlies.

Too many times long range missions (well away from the "front") flown by very DAR cognizant players are smashed by a Horde in waiting at the target base.

The cause of this is obvious and going into that is no value added.

How about some OPSEC COMSEC and allowing missions to not show their "signature" to the other "friendlies"????

Grow up, stop hiding and be ready to fight, especially when you have a horde (aka "mission") at your side.

btw, if you see huge red bar moving from deep back toward your bases what can it mean really?  :huh

You are just mean......  And totally missed his point.  He speaks of dots, not bars.  How about this..... Oleg is currently spying and informs his true country of location and bearing of a large group of dots deep in enemy territory...........  A 1 hour flight into deep country has now been ruined because of one Donkey's Rear.  BTW....  The guys on that hour long flight..... Pay the same amount as you, and have more fun flying for an hour and BS'ing along the way with country then going to furball at whatever base.

So if you're trying to be mean.... At least read what the poster says before you say something that makes no sense.

Oh yea, you just an example what its not enough to read, try to think too next time.
If you can see green dots, guys on other countries can see rad bar. And if they see huge rad bar they dont need any spies to know what is going on.

Hello rstel01,

I understand your thoughts and reasoning.  This however is not something that requires change.  I would suggest coordinating on your vox channel and not posting a mission that all can see.  You will never be able to stop uppers from showing up at the base you are attacking.  It is gonna happen more often than not.  If it does, then fight until you win your objective.  Besides that is where it starts getting fun!

Have a great day,

Not necessarily.  If the green dot is below 500 feet AGL, there is no 'dar bar'.  Hence, the premise of NOE raids.

There are no green dots below some alt, dont sure exact numbers though. Always believed its same for all dots and bars, both green and red.

No, but I do think some of the maps are screwed up like that.  But most of the time, even on the runway, I have a dots for aircraft.

And I didn't want to say NOE, but that is probably what he is talking about.  But even with a bar dar, it's 50 sq miles.  I've hunted for 10 minutes before finding the con sometimes.

Basically, in the end, with no dots, there would be no way to pin point an undercover op....  And I think that's what he is asking for.

Wrong.  The only time there are no green dots is if HQ radar is out or the fellow is in a GV.

After re-reading original post I think you can be right here. Was confusing with "long range" words because I dont see sense in long range NOE runs. Anyway, sorry for insult <S>

Wrong.  The only time there are no green dots is if HQ radar is out or the fellow is in a GV.

I saw many times green dot dissapeared when dived at enemy field and reappeared again as he zoomed away. So I dont think Im wrong at it.

Disappearing dots are an occasional glitch, happening particulary on Titanic Tuesdays.
By design friendly dots for planes do always show on map, regardless of altitude.

Then that is a 'bug' or display issue.  Certainly not something that can be maintained for a controlled period of time.

The OP brought up something that has been on my wishlist for years.. and has been discussed many times.  The desire to conduct a mission without being monitored by fellow countrymen.

There are some people that take a perverted pleasure in contacting opposing countries that such 'sneak' missions are enroute.  Whether it's because they are personally opposed to that style of play, or if they just want to screw the people involved.. it's still a mean and dastardly thing to do.

Bases will flash when an opposing force is approaching, giving ample time for defenders to launch and thwart such attacks.. as a matter of fact, that's one of the things I like to do, at times.  Watch for a flahing base with no enemy dar bar present, then go goon hunting.

Conversely, I've also been the goon that's hunted in such cases.

It's just another angle of gameplay for those that like those sorts of things. No different from furballing, GVing, Strat bombing, .. etc.

Thanks for the reply's so far.

Just to be clear, it is the Dots that I am talking about. If you fly above 500 and trip the actual DAR than tough on us.

When the ring is penetrated then the base/town blinks, so there is the warning as the game is designed.

I am an A8 (A8rstel) and we do enjoy flying long (10 grid) NOE missions to snag a base far far in the rear. It changes the entire dynamic of the game. Especially when it is the map (I cant recall the name) where the GV base spawns into the furthest North Eastern HQ.

It's a long hairy NOE flight in a goon (some flap-down-wheel down) mountain to climb, that is a good time. Then grab the V-Base and pound the HQ down with LVT's.

Far far too many times a well executed NOE has been "busted" by..., well you know what. The military does not tell every pilot where every airplane is in real life and my wish is we would have the same.

You can disable tracers, so why not disable your friendly radar signature (i.e green dot) when you want?

You can see friendly green dots whether they're NOE or not.
