Gava my point is without wep the Mk XVI becomes just another spit.  With less docile low speed handling (compaired to the other spits), repetitively low top end and average acceleration.

5 min of wep really scare people.

Don't why the 16 spit lovers don't fly the 9 more often, great little crate.

i like the 9 better. it just "feels" better when i'm fighting in it.

Not a bad idea but the FM2 is an upgraded F4F-4.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Can you say MORE timid flying?  That is what whels's proposed system would promote.

Not to mention that 200 perk points would get blown through really fast by new players leaving them at a horrible disadvantage.

Though I see in his list the Mosquito would become the most common aircraft.  Good guns, decent speed and handling and unperked.  :P

The same goes for the P-47N, I've noticed.  So far as I know, only the German aircraft have 10 minutes of WEP.  So the SpitfireXVI isn't unique in having limited WEP time, and the perk rides I'm comparing it to also have only 5 minutes.

umm they start @ ZERO now, atleast they could up a perk ride a few times.   Maybe they should be in the TA learning to fly n kill
instead of MA dieing like baby seals on club day.  as it is right now 90% of us have so many perks saved up that perks for planes mean nothing.

oh and this would help stop the suicide porkers  :) and lancstukas spraying n praying 1kers over battlefield.

Yes, they start at zero now, but almost all rides are free. In your system they would quickly be forced into Bf109Es, Spitfire Mk Is, F4Fs, P-40s and A6M2s against Spitfire Mk XVIs, N1K2s, F4U-1As and Bf109K-4s.  Your system is not one for a game that needs monthly fees to stay in business.

You can increase the base perks, but you either end up in the aforementioned situation or so many perks that they don't matter and the whole system is pointless.

Its the pilot, not the plane is MOST situations. Take the spits out in your story and insert P38s. If the first ones a good stick your not going to be around long enough to see the second 38. A decent stick with ALT is going to be tough to beat in any plane.

As to "why would a vet fly a spit16?" Why not ? It may just be their plane of choice due to the history of the thing. You like to fly the pony (which is the plane with the most kills in LW btw), why? Its considered by alot of people as an "uber" ride, but your not complaining about it here. You've been killed by more ponies than you have spit16's so what the beef?

I think you just focus in on spit16's like a lot of people do because they are a darn good plane. You do see quit a few of them, and even the noobs can be a handful at time. The plane covers up well for the mistakes of the pilots which is why its such a great plane.
