... an old 1 Ghz or higher PIII Slot 1 CPU lying around that you want to get rid of (100 Mhz FSB)?

I'd like to slap one in my old Dell PIII 600 machine if I could get one cheap.  Then I might even consider upgrading it from Win98 to XP (if I can scrounge up drivers).

Heck I have an old 850mhz Celeron PIII.  Working?  No idea, from an old HP.  We have the system out in the garage, not used anymore.
Coppermine-128 I think is type, not quite what you're looking for, but dang it is so close.

I came on here to post about Slot 1's and how they stopped making them after 600mhz or so.  Until I wikipedia'd it.  I guess they did make them up over 1ghz and thats news to me.  I've never seen a Slot 1 chip faster than 600mhz.  You'll have a hard time I imagine since the Coppermines were cheaper to produce and used a lot more.

Looked on Ebay and they seem pretty cheap.  Saw 1ghz chips with Buy It Now for $10.

I went to e-bay.  I read somewhere that with the old Dell Dimension XPS T series computers the bus speed had to be 100 Mhz.  The biggest Slot 1/100's are 850 Mhz.  Everything over 850 are all 133 busses.

I did see one for $17 but I'm not sure I'd see much difference going from 600 to 850, so, unless someone wants to give me one...

Yup and I love watching the classified ads or craiglists for old computer.  Such as an 8 year old P2 400mhz that runs great.  Paid $2000 for it and they're expecting $500 FIRM.

I used to figure that a computer lost half it's value every year.  That may or may not be true but if it is then my old Dell that I paid almost $2000 for 12 years ago is now worth $0.49... maybe a little more with the upgrades I've made along the way.
