deployable field camps
« on: January 11, 2009, 08:08:32 PM »
A small field camp for GVs that takes 2 M3s and 1 minute to construct and you may build anywere. Includes 1 man ack gun and a rearm pad. anything else is for show. Can withstand a 1,000 pound bomb. Just a thought really...

It sounds good. +1
But how many could you put up per COUNTRY, not base.
Definitely not anywhere. More like some certain area's that are flat.
This would also means they couldn't pass the radar range of the base or the base would have no way of knowing if its in need of air support.
Maybe give them some sort of little ground radar so that it may detect enemy ground vehicles.

I still give it a go.  :aok

I know the ack is a problem...from a programming view (or so I've been told :)).

Otherwise, I've thought this would be a good idea for perk use.

i think 3 m3s loaded with 5-10 perk "camp supplies" can go out to a Vbase or Air field and take 1 or 2 min after u drop the camp supplies and u get 5 tents a small 10mi radar and 1 or 2 manned ack and a smal gv and lane re-arm pad, (aircraft could only re fuel 15 min of fuel, limited armorments, no ords), that is my interpertation of it

The fuel quantity should be based on gallons so that planes with good gas consumption arent held at a slight disadvantage. All in all I would rather see airpane supplies similar to the ones we have for vehicles. It would be an easy addition.

I think COAD wise it would have to be linked to a mapped base in some way.

Spawn points are hard wired into the map/terrian so it would have to start at (with) an existing spawn point.

Dropping sufficient field supplies within a range of the spawn point could be COAD'ed to build a structure (camo netting?)that acts like a hanger. This "hanger" would be linked back to the origin field for spawning purposes it sole purpose would be to enable hanger properties for GV's wishing to spawn there (and only there) regardless of the main fields hanger properties (enabled/disabled).

In my opinion all other supplies/fuel/ammo etc should be a function of the origin field.

Well then you code the little animated characters with hammers nailing the tent steaks into the ground and hanging up the camo netting. :)

I say no to this idea.  I just do not see the necessity for it.

Ok...

So, sitting on a pad for 30 seconds to rearm or "poof" you're fixed with vehicle supplies isn't too gamey?

It's gamey, but not as much as this portable field  :aok

Portable no, deployable/buildable yes. I think that it would be cool to have a buildable gv rearm pad with camo netting, 1 manned ack, a rearm pad, and just may be short ranged radar. It would add to the ground terrain and make the game environment a bit more realistic.

It's a game.  It's going to be gamey...  We could make a list a mile long listing the "gamey-ness."

This could be cool for tank battles, I'm not against it if HT can find the time.
