Give the FW-190F8 teeth
« on: November 24, 2001, 10:52:00 AM »
This bird is pretty anemic as a JABO right now. 1x500Kg + 4x50Kg? All you can do with that is take out fuel, barracks and radar.
I've seen many reports that at least one field kit allowed the F8 to carry a 1000Kg bomb (which would allow us to take down the VHs and pose as real threat to the TGs).
Also quoting from "Warplaens of the Luftwaffe (ed. David Donaldson)" :

"The most importatn sub-variant was the Fw 190F-8 which could carry 14 21cm (8.27in)  rocket bombs, six 28cm (11.02in) rocket-launchers or 24 R4M unguided bombs"

So can we have some rockets too (I seem to recall some controversy over whether the rocket armament was used operationally)?

this tour
Wotan has 59 kills and has been killed 14 times in the Fw 190F-8.

last tour
Wotan has 46 kills and has been killed 16 times in the Fw 190F-8.

tour before that
Wotan has 30 kills and has been killed 16 times in the Fw 190F-8.

last 3 tours i'm

135 kills to 46 deaths for a 2.935 k/d

The 190f8 is a great plane for gvs/jabo/ and a2a if flown with in its capabilities. The majority of my deaths are ack/gv related with 2 this tour being from the "death upon spawn" bug.

While I'm all for additional loadouts it wont make the 190f8 any better unless you fly it alot to learn its strengths.

I'm a mediocre pilot at best and there are certainly more capable planes in ah for jabo I think the 190f8 is over looked.

Pei we've been kicking this horse since the 190F8 came out it could IN FACT carry 2 Drop tanks underneath each wing and or 250kg bombs in 3 racks,2 underneath both wings and 1 in  the centerline.

But I guess Pyro won't budge "they" have their loadout they're happy and those who use the F8 are  not the majority so no one cares.

Sad but true.

I agree that more loadouts for the Fw190F-8 would be a good thing.

However,

this kind of statement doesn't help. It seems to imply that there is an intentional weakening of the Luftwaffe aircraft, and it implies that the designers are at fault and wrong.  This kind of statement makes them much less responsive to suggestions.

Ive not heard of it carrying so many huge rockets but the ability to carry 250kg bombs or DTs on the wings would be nice, so would the ability to carry the 55mm Panzerblit AT rockets in racks of 8 under each wing.

Another thing Ive heard was sometimes used on FW190s was a 1000kg bomb on the centerline. Modeling this bomb would be nice both the FW190 and Ju88.

However one thing that was used often and a lot were cluster bombs. The most common LW cluster bomb carried 96 2kg bomblets. This would be an awesome weapon to kill certain GVS and field ack. I really want this weapon.

BTW this cluster bomb was used by all LW fighters, both 190s and 109s, not just the FW190F8.

F8 could have lots of fifferent loadouts, including all ´those rockets and gliding bombs mentioned. Like Glassess said however, we've been fighting for this since the very first minute the F8 arrived in the game I just don't think we'll get ii nomatter how much we beg  :(

Wotan, K/D really doesn't make it a good Jabo (although your scores are quite nice  :) ). Maximum load now is only 700Kg, when it could carry up to 1000kg and it could carry lots of different rockets wich would be alot better VS GV's then a few puny 50kg eggs.

<----- Waiting for ME410 and 2 different verisons of teh He219!  :D

Wilbus the plane i use fer jabo most of the time is the f8.

whether it be bombing structures or gvs.

I'm ranked in the 20's in attack. If I used a p38 or a jug I could deliver more ord but my k/d would be fer crap.

I think its ok like it is but I'm all for adding more loadouts. im to the point where at 750ft agl i can level bomb with it.

On its own it can kill a vbase with bombs alone I get usaully 3 gv kills.

I know most folks jabo in f6fs and dhogs but the 190f8 can hold its own.

I gave up asking for changes to loadouts. The way i see it HTC cant be any less aware of the various loadouts for ALL the aircraft in AH.There are several loadout option possible mistakes/errors like the F4uc carrying bombs when only the f4ud has the hardpoints(is that correct?) but it does seem to me that HTC are slowly correcting them, for instance adding bombs to la7, the torpedos to ju88, the different ammo loadouts for nik etc.
I too want the 250kg options on the 190f8 but from what i can see it may well have been 3x250kg (1 each wing ,1 centre point) not 2x250kg+1x500kg.
so would this option really help that much?
4x50kg+500kg=1540lb (approx)
3x250kg=1650lb (approx)
(assuming 50kg=roughly 110lb,500kg=1100lb)

maybe HTC's time would be better spent giving us new aircraft like the Me410  :D
