always is sad to hear or see someone you have flown with and against for many years, post they are leaving.

I 1st knew Guppy35/CorkyJr as Tiff ( +Tiff ) in my 2nd AW life ( AW4W when I could seriously 1/2 way afford the lowered fees), and remember asking if he was a female over the text channel way back when, we never had any VOX type programs regardless of ingame or outside of game, like have came along since those days.......

to see yanksfan leave, then Dan and now Raptor! makes me think that it is more the draining effect of the realworld distress we all are currently experiencing more so than anything else. In times /situations like these, everyone has to step back re-evaluate what is top priority and put certian things on the back burner until better times........

at least this is my observation as of late, and thats my story and I am sticking to it........I do not believe that these 3 fine gentlemen as well as other ol comrades who have contemplated this exact same thing, will just quit and never be seen again ......sometimes each individual just needs some time, and in time, a time will come that we shall all return for just one more time!

There is some turnaround to this cycle too though.  I still see old AW guys on fairly frequently, and I'm not talking just aw2 or 3 either.  I came into aw when it first went to AOL at several dollars an hour, but you did get a couple of free hours in there.  I was glad to see it go all you can eat for sure.

In our squad (Musketeers) we've even gotten several of the old guys back on and several more on the verge of coming back.  At the very least we're pumping up the interest by posting films to youtube and our website and whatnot.  We've been hearing from guys that haven't been involved with sims in years and they're getting excited again! The pendulum swings, but then it swings back too.

Lots of times for squadnights we have 10-12 people on.  I realise that is not a lot by the standards of some of these squads on here, but every one of them is an old school Muskie.  I may be the newest guy and I think I joined in 94.

Don't lose hope is all I'm saying.

Also, it's great to seem some of the Damned around again too.  I used to fly with several of you guys back in the day.

AH has not been as much fun as it use to be for me. I have had the past month to play without obligations, and I was not too thrilled with what I saw. Scenarios are the only fun thing left, but those come around once every few months, and I do not have a stable schedule to commit time to them.

I am far too busy to play AH, I haven't worked on a terrain for the CM team in over a year. With a girlfriend and trying to get into law school, video games just aren't as appealing as they use to be. Maybe something in AH will change, but everyone always hopes for that. It's not just AH, it's my lifestyle as well. Friends, Family and significant others come before AH to me. The running joke has been my connection doesn't hold out. But often someone calls or comes over when I am playing AH and I simply alt+f4. I have learned a lot about aviation and history through people from AH like Dan, that is something I have always enjoyed about AH.

I have been here since Aces High 1, as well as making terrains since then. I have my HTC folder, including terrains, zipped up and put away. Aces High has been uninstalled, I may return in the summer months, however that would require a major change in gameplay and/or attitudes in this game. Good luck to all, I hope AH is more enjoyable for you than it is for you than it has been for me as of late.

Alas, farewell, my friend.

It's so sad to see you going... we met in H2H, we subscribed together, you were one of the few friends left from that time. But I can see why you're doing this and wish you the best of luck for your real life (especially for the law school thing ... maybe one day we'll be colleagues ;)). I hope you'll be back some day, hopefully when the gameplay and, most of all, the attitude of most of the players will change.

<S> Raptor, good luck for everything.

:salute

Was not publicly mentioned. He left last weekend. Mensa has taken the reins of the 80th now.

Our way of having fun in the arenas will not change. We have Dan's picture hanging in the O Club and we have books on landings. He will be missed along with Rap and Yank too.

Dan never used a shade account and it's rather insulting to him that you are implying that he lied to his long time friends and squadron mates.

He had a chance of a lifetime and he took it, anyone that had a 2nd chance at fatherhood would.  So stick your head back where the Sun don't shine.

FinE is correct, Dan did have a shade.  I had my late son's account. I couldn't cancel it for a while after his death. I used it on occasion.

But no, there is no shade account.  And no there is no intention of adding one.  I had no intention of posting some farewell post.  The game passed me by.  When it feels like work, it's time to hang it up.

My little boy takes precedent.  I was almost surprised at how easy it was to quit.

Kind of a weak laugh when you take your shot at me with your BBS Shade Fin, and then come back as Fin to take the shot at AKAK.

So it goes.  Have fun gents :aok
