My story so far in game
« on: January 14, 2009, 09:26:56 PM »
Well joined the game 2 days ago and must say having a pretty good time.
My acm serioulsey is rusty but i think ive gotten 5 legit kills so far........well that i tried to land but ended up distching on those ones grrrrr.
Have landed i think 2 kills.
Atm i think im avg and i mean AVEREGING 1 to 1 on most i get a kill or assist and then BOOM!
Man some of you seeem to just roll on a dime and get your guns on me before i complete my so called stall roll????? Where i pull the nose up drop throttle down and then when nose starts going over throttle through with tourqe??? Is that right?
Anywho i guess not so bad for a guy that last flew in AW3 10 years ago.
Atm i seem to gravitate toward the p51d and the p38j just cant seem to stand flying spits the usually throw gumballs out their wings. Any other good turn fight planes with good caliber guns with id say 425 to 800 range?

first you shouldn't be going for shots outside of the 450 range even with that sweet old 38  :D You can score hits but you need a pretty good sustained burst to do some real damage out at 800.

Turners ...other than the spits, 109s are good, the 205s are good, and the NIK can be pretty nasty, and don't forget the blue planes f4u, f4f/fm2, and the f6 all good turners. The F4u and the 109 make good E planes as well.

Try them all, thats where the fun is. Balistics of the different guns sets can cause a problem so you might look into some info on those so that you can set your convergence and know at what range you want to be shooting at.

Good luck, and don't be afraid to hook up with a trainer to help you knock all ( 10 years worth  :O ) of rust off. They can be a big help getting it all back together for you. <S>

You know i tried  to email the trainers and my email kept bouncing back to me has undeliverable so no clue what to do about that.
Has to the planes the f4u in aw3 days was horrible at turning and the 109 seem to have a horrible view from cockpit.
Does the f4u have 50 caliber machine guns and what convg shoud you set 50 call at and conv for 20 mm?

F4U-1/1A/1D/4 have .50cal. The F4U-1C carries four 20mm cannon.

Convergence is ultimately a matter of personal preference. However in general, further out that 400yds is too far for the .50cal. I set my guns at 200yds across the board, it's just where I feel most comfortable shooting. I may adjust out for ground attack, tho.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Good gopd 200m out you could thropw a spit ball and hit at that distance how in the flyinh gods name do yo uget with 200 meters is beyond me. My usuall distance is 400 to 600 at any given time.
But i guess with practice it gets better.

Think I read something from Skuzzy saying Yahoo mail accounts bounce at the HTC servers. You may want to give Skuzzy a call to confirm that and find a workaround.

Ya the 109s have a crappy view, but you do get use to it. The F4u is a good plane and turns well with flaps. The slower you are the more throttle work you will have to do to keep the toque from flipping you over but you can get it pretty slow and still turn with most.

Convergence is a personal preference. I set all of mine at 325. The trick is to shoot when you are in your convergence area. at 325 I know that when the range  icon switches to 400 ( 400 means you are anywhere from 300-500 out) I'm almost there and I'll push that bit more to get the lead for my shot .

I set my guns on the 50cal F4U's at 375 for all, every time i bring it to 300 i start running into lots of buffs and planes that run.

Learn to fly the 109 series with the G6. It does nothing good, but everything average. Then go to what ya like. If you like fighting vert. Start to learn the G14. If you like speed. Learn the K4. I've never really liked to turn my G14.

Dont listen to this guy cough cough kid :) 109s require that your SA is good because of the lack of visibility in the plane but once you get that down the plane can out dogfight any plane in the game, just take everything vertical unless its a 38 and in the case dont ask me because I still cant beat Pawz to save my life :D

:rofl sure, anything but those two would do.  One is a bomber and the other one an American sports car (Very fast, very streight)  :O
