Favorite sports blooper, practical joke, or funny moment?
« on: January 16, 2009, 08:57:42 PM »
I was gonna say baseball, with it now being less than a month until pitchers and catchers report (and the WBC coming up), but lets say all sports. Whats your favorite blooper, practical joke, or just funny moment you've seen in a game? Preferably something you saw in a game you were actually watching, not saw on a Sports Illustrated blooper video.

Mine is still when Bobby Valentine got thrown out of a Mets came, then the next inning snuck back into the dugout with shaded glasses, a fake moustache and no uniform. I laughed so hard that day that I think I shot beer out my nose. I miss Bobby V.  :aok

Second would be the extremely painful collision between two Mets outfielders that I remember seeing in the '80s or early '90s. I remember watching the game and cringing over it, but I can't remember for the life of me who the two players were, though I'm thinking one might have been Lee Mazzilli. Bothe leapt for the ball from oppsite sides, and slowly turned their heads, made eye contact, and smacked full speed face first. Looked extremely painful, and still makes me laugh every time I think of it.

Quite a few years ago, the Mets had an outfield prospect that ran/crashed through the outfield fence chasing a fly ball.. His name does elude me.

Here's an easy practical joke to pull that 9 times out of 10 will have people going nuts for a few minutes, even had my old Warrant Officer call tech support for this one.

Take a small piece of red masking tape and place it over the optical sensor on someones computer mouse. That's it. :devil

The second season the Rangers were in Arlington our Little League team went to watch them play the Yankees. In the 5th one of the Yankees hit a pop fly to right. The 1st baseman, 2nd baseman and right fielder all went for the ball. They collided and the ball landed dead center of all three layed out cold on the ground.

Things haven't changed much in the last 30 years in Arlington.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

I remember watching this game with my dad.  He had just finished telling me how he'd waited all his life to see the Red Sox win it all.  And then... :O :uhoh Lukily, he did finally get a chance to see them win 2.

I was on a combination fire department. Meaning that it was staffed 24 hours a day but if a call hit volunteers would respond to station and standby in case paid crews needed more help or a second call.

My shift decided to play a prank on the next days 24 hour shift and hooked a theatrical smoke machine up to a timer and connected the output into the A/C system. When it went off it would pump very real looking smoke into the station. Well we set it to hit at 9pm. As fate would have it the crew got a run just before 9. When the volunteers showed up they thought the building was on fire and reported it to 911. Who dispatched surrounding fire departments while the volunteers began pulling the trucks out of the station. It didn't dawn on any of them that they could breathe the smoke and it wasn't hot. At the time not so funny since the Chief was at a city council meeting when it happened.

Long story and nothing about sports but I still get a chuckle when I think about it. Best thing is no one got fired and they still talk about 8 years later

one of my personal fav's was from when i was at a juvy institute.

we snuck into the staff bathroom and pulled seran wrap tightly over the top (opening) of the toilet bowl and put the seat back down. in half or partial light it becomes virtually invisible.

the staff that went in to take a piss was none to pleased!

Well, since this has become a prank thread instead of sports bloopers...

Best I ever did was the last night in the Academy, we spider-webbed the door to my neighbors room. Took a whole bunch of long, pre-cut strips of clear packing tape and stretched them across the outside of their doorframe (the door opened inwards) in a bige web pattern, and waited. About 1am, one of them came stumbling out to go to the bathroom. We heard the door creak, then a single POP as he walked into it and the tape all unstuck from the frame, and about 15 minutes of cursing as he tried to figure out what the hell happened and unwrap himself from the tangle of tape.

Best part was, of the four guys in the room, it was the hairy Italian kid in just his boxers who walked into it. I think he lost about five pounds of fur by the time he got all the tape off.  :rofl
