Circity City decided that it is closing all the US stores with clearance sales starting Saturday the 17th. Wonder what kind of deals they will be having starting Saturday?

Circuit glazety...never cared for them...sign of the times...prolly make out pretty good...from what I read they ignored the threat that Best Buy  presented a few years ago to dominate the electronics sales industry and hence suffered for it..its a shame..

Too pricey, and terrible service. Didn't Family Guy lampoon their clueless employees with Stewie asking the salesman questions about the printer and the guy responding to every question with "Yeah, you can get faxes on this thing", or something along those lines?

I know every time I was there, I got the impression that they were on their first day on their own and were just recited canned answers from a list to all of your questions.

No great loss to see them go under.

No one is chuckling about 30,000 people losing their jobs, but try this on for perspective

circuit crappy is really already gone. the liquidators own it now. same thing happend with linens and things. they will mark up the prices, then offer 20%-40% off to start which is still more than the original price.
people around here found out what they did at linens and things when they pulled the price tags off to see the original prices. Iirc think wfaa did a big news story about the price gouging.
I checked lastnight and their site was down so ya cant compare prices from a few days ago to now. It's gonna be a big rip-off. maybe at the end you can get a deal but by then all the good stuff will be gone

Yup.

I checked out my local CompUSA when it was going out of biz. for a new Vid. card.  It was still MUCH cheaper at NewEgg.  I found a local shop right down the road that beat CompUSA's "clearance" price by $20-40.00.  (I would rather buy local than use NewEgg if possible)
