Ack code needs work

How can ack kill me with 1 ping when I'm doing 500mph, but totally miss a guy making lazy turns at 200mph over my base? Enquiring minds want to know.

Seems like acks calculate deflection very good. Flying 500mph or 200mph is the same for them, exept for the time needed to get out of range. But you can use their predictability!
changing direction enough to make calculated impact point move a little, will result in a miss.
when you go out of the bombing dive, do not climb (or climb very shallow) so you'll get out of range fast and don't leave the guns at direct 6. Look 6 to see how long it takes the shots to reach you and time your zig-zag acordingly - when you see shots heading your way turn 30-60 deg (rate of turn depend on range) till you see new shots heading new impact point and turn back. I play with the ack from near my 5 to near my 7.
usualy works.

another hint:
if you drag a bandit toward friendly ack, pick a gun and fly directly at it...
watch gun's calculated deflection at work  :) (will usually kill him with first shot, after he goes right over the gun).

I'm not talking about the ack killing you while dive-bombing. I'm talking about the times when you 're flying at 5 or 6k doing 400-500 mph and the ack explodes you with 1 ping.

Hi Raub  Enjoy flying with you online.

You're right...I've dove down in a P-38 to rocket VHs and at 400+ mph, 1 ping and Im either in pieces or simply back in the tower.

Same mission, but lower, slower, with a Spit 9 and I can last a lot longer.

I seem to fair better with the Ar 234 tho...I'll go in at 7 or 8k, 400mph to bomb a target, get bomb off, make a few evasive manuevers and usually escape ping free...not always, but 90% of the time.

Its certainly a weird creature

its suk raub got ripped at 7.5k 3k east of the field in a shallow dive in a d9 1 ping ripped me in half.

at that same base next sortie i flw lo at 200mph killed all the ack never got hit.

been this way for a while. its very easy to kill at lo speeds even med and large bases.

however town ack is a little tougher at slo speeds.

Happened to me the first time I lost a Me262. 600mph, in a high deflection shooting (ack zone was at 3-4 o clock), at extreme range.

Ack in general (both field, navy and heavy ack) is one of the less enjoying parts of this game; and I agree completely with the need to re-code it.
