DeMaskus, 357th DeathDragons, flying under Limbo0/96Delta in Combined Rook Operations
You must have been basking in thier armchair generalship l33t skillz
Before I get into the main event, it would be imperative that I begin at the event that set us up for this entire ordeal.
Oh good! The suspense is killing me after hearing who you need to follow around to feel like your accomplishing something in this game.
As CV85 neared A220, 96Delta became interested in using it to take 220, and as Limbo was still present, he led the mission. We quickly captured the base with minimal effort.
Awesome! An easy base take! I hope everyone got lot's of WTG!'s and that you all felt very proud of your easily taken cartoon real estate. Hope it doesn't do something like start a fight; God forbid!
However, this created an opening for Bishop forces to attack 220 from A219.
OH NO! A fight! How horrid. Who would think that a fight would ensue. Shoot. What did you do next? Set up an awesome defensive screen with rides assigned for bomber intercept and fighters to cover them? (no, thats probably too boring and doesn't get nearly as many WTG!'s as sneaking some more real-estate, the real purpose of this game)
This created a power vacuum just south at A213, and drew nearly ALL opposition from A212.
Quick! Better steal that one fast!
Limbo quickly set up a standard base take raid, however with more fighters than usually sign up. Total mission strength was approx 25 aircraft. 12 Bf110-G2, 4 Bf109-F4, 4 N1K2-J, 2 Spitfires, and 2 C47.
Oh wow, that misshun is oozing the historical feel of how nearly all WW2 misshuns went. I bet after taking off you were all talking about how much this is just like what your grandfathers did it in real life!

The launch and transit was uneventful. As we neared A213, we hugged the top of the low hill surrounding the base. Only 3 air contacts were seen.
No wonder we never heard of these from the history books. No one ever saw them, they were so sneaky and low to the ground that the trees and hills kept them hidden!

When the order was given, I flew my N1K2-J to the designated area between the town and field.
And that's when all hell broke loose.
Oh no! Someone wants to ruin your sneaky base steal! Those griefers!
As soon as the 110's neared the target, an unprecedented number of defenders launched from the field in what seemed as a single mass of fighters. As one would expect, vox was suddenly filled with the frantic cries of 'Uppers on the field! Dozens of them!!' and 'Check si-HOLY CRAP!' I turned to engage the mass of fighters, and resigned myself to be towered.
A true warrior faces the odds not with a sigh of defeat, but with a war cry! Here's my whole problem with your horde mentality. You see people coming to defend and you've already decided that your going to die and that all is lost. This is the point where you should be laughing giddy, some other people on the internets want to fight you in a ww2 combat simulation! That's the whole point of the diddlying game!
I don't think there was a single pilot who didn't know he was about to die.
Oh heaven forbid! Maybe they won't give you a shiney new plane this time and you won't get to play anymore!

And this wasn't even the most incredible part. As the blobs merged, the buzzing fighters formed the most densely packed furball I have ever seen. There was not a single con outside D800 from me. Now, remember that we're talking about 50+ planes here. All packed in a little ball. Think MoM mission, only turned on itself and forming a furball that takes up about as much space as a TOWN.
So awesome furball ensues. I'm sure your horde of highly skilled web warriors gave a good show of themselves, right?

As more and more fighters were shot down (the 110's were the first to go, despite their gun packages.)
And you'd think they should be able to HO their way out of any problem (like people wanting to fight them!)
they were told NOT to reup, as 96Delta formed an La7 sweep (reverted to La5FNs due to massive ENY fluctuation, no doubt due to the furball) that really didn't work all that well, seeing as I went prop to prop with an LTAR....
However, the loss of 213 did open up other possibilities.
A failed NOE, better try somewhere else now!

With the Birds of Prey and LTARs tied up at 213, LCA and the 357th led an assault on A206, which was defeated,
Wow, I'm starting to see a theme here...

but then upped a carrier attack (hitting a carrier on the way from dumb luck) on P200 with TankBstr taking a C47 from A212 all the way to A206, capturing it alone. Half of LCA is known to owe him a case of fine imported whiskey for his accomplishment.
I know I'd want as much booze to fight the boredom.
SUMMARY
Incredible furball opened up the way for a number of hard fought victories along the Bishland coast. WTG Rooks!
SUMMARY: A lot of lame base stealing and fight avoidance. Listen, if you want to feel a little accomplishment in this game send me a PM. I'm not very talented by any means compared to some of these stellar sticks around; but I'm more than willing to help you not feel so helpless when someone decides to fight you. You mentioning meeting an LTAR prop to prop seems to show you might need a little help setting up merges (especially since you were in a HO machine with 4 x 20mms and still lost)
Yours truely,
