Salute to VF-10

HOT DAMN! Our long lost relatives jumped us!  :lol Seriously...textbook jump. CO was all ready down, XO (Hamblue) barely got a warning off before he was down, and before I could tell the surviving squadies to Break and run for it....I was in the tower with no idea how I got there.

Nice to see our extended family still has claws and knows how to use them!

Thanks Navy, you guys gave as good as you got.
We just happened to be in the sweet spot as you guys moved towards the B-24s.
You guys fought so hard we couldn't disengage and rejoin the bombers, so you effectively stripped some of the escorts away.
Tex01 seems to be a squad all his own, we're glad to have him with us on FSO.
Great flying as always Slybirds.

Those Corsairs are tough to shoot down, compared to the paper-thin kites we were in. I was pinging someone real good for a few seconds and then in an instant my wing popped off.  :D

Was a fun engagement.  :aok

Qrsu,

I made my intial run on you as you were attacking a B-24. Point blank and I missed you by a mile. :lol

I came in way too hot and had to pull up to keep from ramming you my usual lousy gunnery is even worse at high speed.
I didn't even ruffle your feathers.

If I have time I'll pull a screenshot from the film later.

Yes you guys were in A6M2s, the 20mms are weak over D200 as well as the MGs. You've got to get in close with the M2 for a kill.
Another reason I'm glad that Squire added the A6M5 to this setup. It gives the Zeke some fangs against the 1943 USN/USAAF birds.
You guys flew very well and put up a great fight considering your aircraft. Add to the fact after we engaged more Corsairs from VMF-251 and Rolling Thunder showed up it got even rougher on you guys.

Yeah, I remember this. It freaked me right out and I think I started to watch my six a lot more carefully after that point. I definitely got lucky here.
