Well, I have one and I am very satisfied with it.

- Ergonomics are great, you can adjust just about everything for maximum comfort.
- All buttons are easily reachable, but for that very reason this stick is not as suitable for lefthanders as the previous Cyborgs.
- The dual throttles are great and much better positioned as on the Aviator.
- The scrolll wheel is a very good solution for either flap or trim control.
- The potentiometers have a high resolution and they do not spike (yet). Ok I know thats not a great feat after a couple of days use, but I had joysticks that did spike right out of the box (TM Flightstick X, and some Logitech stick)
- It keeps its calibration (that being said, I used various Saitek sticks in the last 8 years, and none of them lost its calibration ever).
- It has a rather wide and thus stable base, so despite its low weight, it stands firm on the table.

In my opinion so far,  its the best stick in its price range.

It seems the fate of the Saitek Cyborg X lies in your hands Boozeman. I've searched the internet high and low and this about the best info on it bar a half decent review on amazon - can you explain what the hell potentiometers are and what they do exactly in laymans terms? I could study the wikipedia page all day and not come up with an answer. My best guess is its some sort of inbuilt device which stops the stick from losing calibration and keeps everything at a constant level?

The potentiometers measure the movement (or position) of each the analouge axis, X (roll) and Y (pitch), Z (yaw) and the throttle(s) of course.
So whatever input you give, it's mesured by them. Having a high resolution means they can notice even the smallest movements of the stick, and give a very smooth input to the game. OTOH having a low resolution "pots" means generally "jerky" unprecise game inputs.

In case of the Cyborg X, the resolution is higher than what I can do with my hand. That means even for the smallest amount of movement that I can do, the stick can even detect positions in between.
