PTO IV for PS2 was GREAT!!! I used to rent it and play it all the time. Ive been looking for something similar ever since, but the closest I can get, Pacific Storm: Allies, barely runs on my computer.
I never played IV, but from what I read it was a more simplistic version than 1 and 2 and emphasized more on the actual battle scenes.

If the PTO is the one where you fought a strategic level game with the Japanese or Americans then yes I loved the PTO series and the X-Wing/Tie Fighter series as well.
Yeah it was.  Diplomacy + Fleet and ground action.  The fleet action wasn't anything complicated and I rarely played out those simulations.

The Commodore 64 had some of the greatest games ever designed.

One of the first and best multiplayer games:

Battlechess on steroids.  Brilliant:

Yeah, IV was rather simplistic, but it was still better than anything else like it and the graphics were great. If you enjoyed that, I suggest Pacific Storm: Allies. I have a copy, and it really is great, the only thing is you need a higher-end machine to play it. You have to deal with deplomacy, developing technology, creating supply routes for your bases... its really addicting. I play it for weeks building up a massive fleet... and then when I get to the battle and my computer lags because it cannot handle the graphics, I walk away :(

Which one is that? Fate of Atlantis or Last Crusade? Fate of Atlantis rocked. They should have based the new Indy movie off of that. :p

My first flight sim.

Hellcat Ace from Microprose in 1984.

I had an Atari 800 PC with a casstte drive. It took about 15-20 minutes for the game to load.
I also had Battle of Midway from SSI.

I upgraded to an C-64 in 1986 some games for it I liked were.

F19 Stealth Fighter
Mig Alley Ace
AH-64
Ultima
Wizards Quest
Plus some of the SSI war games.

When I got a 286 PC
I had Battlehawks 1942 and Their Finest Hour as my favorites.

386 Upgrade.
Aces over the Pacific
Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe
Aces Over Europe
Red Baron.

Then I got a 486 and found Red baron Online, followed closely by Air Warrior.
Since then most of my computer gaming has been computer upgrades when needed to play Air Warrior, Warbirds, or Aces High.

Frenchy,

That would be Last Crusade, based on the movie.

i wonder if HTC was inspired by this game...

Even though it's graphics are quite old it has a 'look and feel' similar to Warbirds and Aces High...

I loved mixing eras in Chuck Yeager. P-51 vs. F-4, anyone? ;)
