Cloud effects in scenarios
« on: January 29, 2009, 01:19:54 AM »
Would it be possible to re-enable the old blind effects we had in clouds?  Where icons were turned off and plane flew in a thick fog while within the clouds' boundaries?  It's understandable that they don't seem fair (or whatever the complaint is) in the MA, but in scenarios it ought to be worth having.

Heck, I'd like to see that in the MA (as well as scenarios) or at least try it out for a time.

I agree with delirium on this one.  Would be nice to have that effect.

In retrospect, the only problem I see is that clouds don't really blind the guy flying inside them as the clouds should.

I think it would require a complete re-writing of the cloud graphics to really be a viable option within AH.

That they don't really blind the guy inside now, or back then? Back then you would lose all icons and only see other planes when very close, and no one could see what was inside, even dots, from outside. Unless I'm remembering wrong.  The one flaw with it was a bug (dunno if it was just my FE back then), where you'd see all outside dots (not drawn planes) very clearly over the ambient gray fog.

Both.

edit: another problem with the current cloud graphic is they are fixed on a certain point, if you do an Immelman, the cloud rotates around an axis in the middle of the cloud.

That's an inherent problem with sprites..It would probably look even worse if you let them stand and saw their flat profile. You can only do so much with 2D. :)

I always thought this was a sprite.

Here I thought several squads within in AH were loaded with them.  :D

We would have to check her teeth.  I think she has too many to be English.  And she probably speaks squeek anyway by the look of her.
