Found that movie on DVD for $30 IIRC.  Great movie even though it is subtitled.  Really enjoyed seeing a movie about the Japanese side for a change.  Would recommend to anyone that loves WWII history.  For a good read on the Yamato, I would recommend, A Glorious Way to Die.  Have read and thumbed through it so many times, it is worn out.

Poor blighters. I almost feel sorry for them.

It looked fairly well represented as per actual history. The only part I noticed that maybe wasnt was that the heavy guns of the Yamato were actually fired at the water to her sides trying to make a water wall to impede IB Yank torpedo planes.

Gotta give the Japs high marks for sheer bravery. "Letters from Iwo Jima" is one of my favorite war movies because it really showed the war from their side. Something that hasnt happened much in Pacific war movies. Yamato lost almost all of her crew.

It was a great navy that we destroyed. Of course it had to be done but you have to respect the IJN too. I mean they filled the thing with only enough fuel to make it to Okinawa with orders to then beach her and slug it out to the end. They knew they were all as good as dead when they left Japan.

One of my favorite IJN sights. Enjoy http://www.combinedfleet.com/kaigun.htm
