VMF-251 Decorations for Bougainville Frame 3

VMF-251 has issued the following decorations for the action of 1/30 over Bougainville



The Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal has been presented to:

aJoust - For voluntarily accepting to man the guns of a B-25 for the Nightmares, when VMF-251 lacked enough aircraft for him to fly with his squad-mates (maxed out our commitment).

Enker - For the downing of his fifth enemy aircraft in FSO, and achieving the status of Ace.



The Silver Star has been presented to:

Saxman - For the downing of eight aircraft of the enemy in the frame, and for recording his 75th aerial victory overall in FSO.



The Navy Unit Commendation has been issued to the following active members of VMF-251, for participation in a frame in which the squadron recorded 20 or more aerial victories:

The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal has been presented to:

Poseign - For participating with VMF-251 as a volunteer in a Pacific Theater frame of FSO, pending reception of his enlistment form. Upon official enlistment he will be eligible to receive the Unit Commendation for the action of 1/30.

-Eine Abschüße - Awarded to a pilot for successfully shooting down their 1st enemy planes during an FSO mission. - Hauptgefreiter Barkhorn

- Flugzeugführerabzeichen 1.Klasse - Complete Pilot Qualification in 2 Arenas - Hauptgefreiter Barkhorn

- Kriegsverdienstkreuz mit Schwertern 2.Klasse - Awarded to pilots after they have scored 5 aerial victories in FSO. - Flieger CANUKK

- Kriegsverdienstkreuz mit Schwertern 1.Klasse - Awarded to pilots after they have scored 15 aerial victories in FSO. - Gefreiter Choppit

- Ritterkreuz des Kriegsverdienstkreuz mit Schwerter - Awarded to pilots after they have scored 30 aerial victories in FSO. - Oberleutnant Tuxc123

- Ritterkreuz des Kriegsverdienstkreuz mit Schwerter mit Eichenlaub - Awarded to pilots after they have scored 50 aerial victories in FSO. - Hauptmann Turner

- Frontflugspange fur Jäger (Short Range Day Fighter Clasp) - in Silver - Complete 60 FSO Missions - Oberstleutnant Stampf


- Ehrenblatt Spange des III Gruppe - Awarded for the highest JG11 score in an FSO Campaign. - This award is shared this Operation by Major TheBug, and Gefreiter Choppit each scoring 8 victories over the course of the 3 frames.

 That is a nice thing to have set up for your guys and after reading the logs , it speaks for themselves . As a member of precision we have an award or  two but only for main arena. Nice work for both squads .
