20 pilots, 20 landed safely (excluding discos). In B-25Cs, no less!

I think a big WTG Escorts!! is in order.

You guys were brutally efficient in your job so we could do ours!   :salute

And thanks to aJoust for riding along.  Heck.. had I known he was going to be a celebrity ( refer to Air Medal awarded ), I would have had the sargent install the fancy slipcovers on the turret seat.

Great sight of 60 or so B25s laying waste to that airfield.  Working on some screenies.

Again, Thanks for the escorting!

Great job!

I don't think the Bucs ever caught up with you guys. The closest we got was shortly before you broke the dar ring at 17 when we jumped a half-dozen or so low Zekes, (VFA-169. I wonder if they even knew what hit them, lol!) and later right as you guys were recovering at A10.

From that point forward we were almost constantly engaged and were never able to get back to you. Then again, we tied up at least parts of the 412th and 357th between 17 and the target at 18, so maybe that was enough.

Yes it was one of those long runs where not a whole lot happened, but mission accomplished and rtb. What I was impressed with was how we originally intended to come in and attack ne sw, but due to a turn to avoid ack at the other base, we ended up dropping east to west across the field. I expected alot of doubled up bombing of the same stuff, but MGD and the flight leads had everyone well breifed for the drop. It went from a pristine base to a birthday cake in 5 seconds.

Yes, I was very impressed with the quick work you made of that AF. It was a pleasure to watch from up above. :)

Excaliburs did not in fact see the bulk of your attack. We saw 2 co alt F4u's when we began our run on the buffs. Last thing I heard before instant death was "4440, you have a SQUAD :cry of F4U's on your six" next thing I saw was the pearly gates.

Rest of the squad was shredded in probally less than 5 mins.

We had a one or two high Zeros pass over our formation where they were engaged by some of the other escorts. VMF-251 was in a shallow left turn trying to pick up some low dots reported at our location when we saw you guys at about our 10 o'clock low heading roughly back along our flight path. The positioning was virtually ideal for us to roll in right behind you, and we actually ended up coming down with the sun at our backs. In over a year of FSO and even longer in the Mains I don't think I've EVER been involved (on either side) of such a perfect setup.

Well done Nightmares and escorts!

Let me toot the 880s horn a tad. We upped only 5 sets of KI67 and everyone landed. We did lose a couple of planes but hey they're Japanese. (No offense intended to our Asian brothren) We also landed 10 kills. Gosh those 20mms are awesome!

My lead planes right engine was out and that sucker pulled right the whole trip back and at a speedy rate of about 175 mph. Try going 6 sectors or more like that. :lol :lol
