CV ack-ack: is anyone having BIG problems
« on: January 10, 2001, 01:36:00 AM »
Yesterday I was chasing a NIKI at 24K+ and more than 400mph TAS above his fleet. I was not flying straight and I was in a shallow dive to catch him.

Well, I saw the first black puff and the sound of very close explosions. After 3-4 seconds: BOOM!

Same thing happened later to other Knights and squad-mates. Looks like CV groups have batteries of laser guided 88 or Patriot missiles. Am I wrong?

In the meanwhile I'm avoiding accurately CV groups and hunting above terra firma

There have been at least 3 or 4 posts about this elsewhere on the board. I dont think HTC has replied to any (could be wrong). Personally i think they are *far* too acurate - damned laser defense system.

Yes, there have been several posts. I put in a nice one myself. I'm not happy that he hasn't replied myself. I here people say that there working on it. If they don't get it fixed soon I'm dropping my account. It just flat ruins the game for me. I don't like having to make sure I'm not within 20k of the CV. The other day me and a couple squad mates were flying at 22k and passed near a CV and all of us were shot down within a couple minutes. We all were dang near ripping the wings off our planes trying to avoid the ack. What ticked me off even more was that I wasn't aware the CV was even there. I wasn't even trying to find it. We were just trying to fly from point A to point B to dog fight. See the posting 88mm flack or Patriot missile.

AH's response is under "General"

It'll be fixed next patch, until then - stay away from manned ack :0

We're going to be changing making a host change to tone down the flak in the arena. We hope to get this done today and wanted to do it yesterday.

Yep, it's in the News BB.  They are going to tone down the ack today.  More evidence they listen to user feedback.

News: "The host change was made today. Auto-flak will now hit you a lot less frequently."

It's not the auto-flak that is the problem... It's the manned flak.

-----edit-----

I'm beginning to think it's the auto flack...  I dunno.

Want a good laugh? Watch the drones offline circle the carrier and get shot at. They rarely, if ever, get hit. Now you fly over an enemy fleet; BANG! They nail you within 10 seconds of getting in range. Looks like friendly Auto-gunners have a deal with the enemy!
