A-26
« on: February 04, 2009, 05:34:07 AM »
The reason there are so many american bombers in the game is simple....we built the BOMB BABY!!!
But one outstanding example of a medium is absent the A-26...
we all know the B-29 has alot of followers, but along with making bigger bomber hangers, and redesigning fields in the game so you wouldnt smack the wings on stuff, there are alot of problems with bringing it to the game.

So I say let the he-111 go by the wayside with its puny bomb load....
the betty is a flying gas can, and has a puny bomb load....
and lets face it, the Tu is...is just,...well its russian so need I say more?

A-26, great plane, made it into the next to wars, and it just looks plane sexy. Lets have yet another example of American ironmongery since during the war the allies where flying our stuff anyway.
Lets face it, we deserve the A-26.....i've personaly been a good boy this year. :D

Luckily HTC doesn't pick its planes for their performance only.
If there can't be any planes with 'a puny bombload' we wouldn't have much left.
Personally, I don't think we 'need' a better B-25/A-20/Boston Mk.III

Or another American aircraft for that matter

Another A26 Invader thread, Right ON!!!
This one has been batted back and forth MANY times. But
maybe we'll get lucky someday, and HTC will get tired of
hearing it, and finally give us a WORTHY perk bomber...
A26 fits this game perfectly, maybe TOO well for some folks..
A genuine LATEWAR attack plane, for the LATEWAR ARENA!!!
I guess that just MAKES TOO MUCH SENSE, huh??? LOL!!!

In fairness, there are other things that the game needs besides
any new planes, or Tank/GVs.. Like a more realistic terrain model..
That, would give more game "bang" for the makers efforts, and
boost this game to a new level...

And a real working HVY ARTILLERY model too..

Love that plane tho!!!

No, your argument doesn't wash. I think we need the A-26 as a perk bomber but we have other bombers we need more first. Besides I find the "other guys airplanes" to be the spice of the game. I have no enthusiasm for the He-111 but the aircraft had a huge footprint in the war and wouldn't tell anyone it doesn't belong. That goes for the Betty too.

I know your being tongue in cheek, and yes I love the Yank set too. But other sets need work and new intros first.

well i dont think this plane is gonna fly in here because we already have the other varient aka b-26. So what why do we need an attack version of the b-26 for. Also The Douglas company began delivering the production model A-26B in August 1943. Invaders first saw action with the Fifth Air Force in the Southwest Pacific theater on 23 June 1944, when they bombed Japanese-held islands near Manokwari.[8]

They began arriving in Europe in September 1944 for assignment to the Ninth Air Force, and entered combat two months later on 19 November.

So my guestimation is the plane wont fly in AHII ...

of the DOUGLAS A26???

ebfd11, you should adjust your post, before
too many ppl see it...

Hmmm, I better just leave this one alone!!!

I'd like to have the A26.....and the He-111..... and the Betty......and the Tu-2.......and...

Those last three would fill some holes in the scenarios. Chasing Betty's errrr Ju88's in Rangoon using a P-40B was practically pointless.

But yes I'd love to have the A26 also.

As much as I would love to see the A-26 the Tu-2 is a better addition overall for scenario's & FSO while providing a great addition to the MA.

A-26 is a good choice for a perked bomber, simply because there's only 1 aircraft your bomber perks can buy - an Arado 234. 'Course, I'd be open to suggestions for any other perkable bomber, a PB4Y-2 perhaps or a B-32 Dominator, He-177, Halifax?

The problem is simple, really. There's only one wartime heavy bomber that was superior to the B-17, B-24, and Lancaster. And I won't mention it because I don't want God to kill another kitten.  :lol

So the other option is to go tactical and use bomber perks on attack aircraft. The A-26 is a logical choice, along with the Hs-129, Ju-87G-2 with 37mm gun package, and maybe a few others.

But like most AH players, I agree there's a bunch more things that should be done before we get new aircraft or GVs...artillery is one of them, the ability to bring tanks ashore from task groups (Mk V LCT), recon options, the ability to rescue a downed pilot, terrain improvements, roads to improve mobility of ground units, etc.

Future perk bombers:

B-29A Superfortress, Mosquito B.Mk XVI, A-26 Invader, Ju290A-8.

Bombers that might be perk worthy:

Il-10 Sturmovik, He177A-5 Greif, B7A2 'Grace'.

Bombers that are not perk worthy:

Do-17Z, Do-217E, Ju188A, He111H, Mosquito B.Mk IV, Wellington B.Mk III, Blenheim Mk I, Hampden, Halifax Mk III, G4M2 'Betty', H8K2 'Emily', P1Y1 Ginga 'Frances', B6N2 'Jill', D4Y 'Judy', SB2C Helldiver, Il-4, Pe-2, Tu-2, S.M.79-II, Cant Z.1007.

Bombers that should pay you perks for even taking off in them:

Fairey Battle Mk I, TBD Devastator
