Re-Arm Pad Options
« on: February 04, 2009, 09:59:27 AM »
Wish: I wish I could select new load out options when I use the Re-Arm Pad.

Justification: In the course of a sortie the mission usually changes.  Being able to go from drop tanks to munitions, or 75% internal fuel to 50% would improve the game.

Summary: Hitech,   just do it.......won't take longer than 20 minutes.  Do it before lunch.

Thanks.

How do you know it'll take 20 min? If you actually do know, why aren't you an employee @ HTC getting paid to do this in 20 min....?

But yes, I agree this would be a great addition.  :aok

speaking of rearm pads, how about having rearm pads for aircraft at GV bases. :rock

That would truly suck.

GVs have already a hard time finding a fight without constantly being bombed to smithereens or facing clowns like me popping them with 37mm rounds in EZ mode.

Also: Attacking a Vbase is in tanks very difficult for the attacker, the defender has so many advantages. He can quickly drop supplies, he can safely land when his turret is gone (an attacker is doomed), he can sit and wait, listening for the attacker's engine sounds (the attacker HAS to move and present himself as a target first), F5 view is available from manned ack or tower...

The quickest I would think HTC could do this is in two days... with free pizza and beer provided... and probably agitating the little woman by working really late into the night.  I don't think it would be the largest task undertaken, but it would be no small one for one person or a team to code and layout a menu so the player can alter their loadout.

My honest guess, ideally avoiding having to supply HTC with free beer and pizza for a couple of days, and avoiding the wrath of their wives/husbands for a much longer period of time because we deprived them of their loved ones, would be a week at least... IF they wanted to implement this change.

Forty Hitech hours?  Seriously?

I admit. 20 minutes might put the guy on his toe tips but he could do it if he wanted to.

So, lets meet somehwere in the middle.  Two half hour coad sessions with a 15 minute break in the middle.

Two days? No. Basically all you're doing is re-coding and adding things to the Rearm pad area of code. Re-coding the loadout selection and adding a simple menu.

Edit: On an even better note, how about a flat cost of 5 perk points per rearm ord change. Rearming with no change costs nothing, rearming with an ord change is a small fee.

It's just an idea

Sounds reasonable....either that or a good time penalty.......

Indeed. Because you think real life...loading bombs onto a truck, driving the truck across the airfield, getting the bombs strapped on etc. I'd say you have to wait at LEAST  2 minutes if not more.

If you are changing your load out you aren't really re-arming, you're arming.

The wish should be:

The ords are down at the base.  How can I get around this.  If I had taken off originally with bombs I could hit the rearm pad now and get more.  I wish I could just land and get the bombs I didn't have originally and take off again.

The simple solution.  Always take ords with you, just in case.  Drop them.  If you need them later, you can re-arm.

Don't think I like the re-arm pads at the GV bases, re-fuel would be ok , but it would be cool to change load outs at the air base re-arm pads just move the time up from 30 sec. to maybe 60 sec. give me time to catch a drink and use the tur-let. :salute

I'd like to see re-arm pads fixed so GVs can't sit on them indefinitely and have an endless supply of ammunition.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I think your post highlights more of a reason to disable the feature of ords being reloadable at re-arm pads located at bases with no ordinance up.  Unless I interpreted it wrong, your solution is that we exploit a non-realistic/simulation flaw in the game (or as others prefer: game the game).

I personaly would like a re-arm menu where you can alter your loadout based on the available ords and fuel supplies at the field you're rearming at (I know, seems harsh, but since this game has always been more of a simulator to me than a game, I kind of expect the challenge of only recieving 0-25% fuel from a base that has had all of it's fuel-related targets recently porked).

I made a thread about this ages ago.... HTC said no.

My proposal specifically stated that no armament that was not initially loaded on the aircraft at take off could be loaded.

Instead, the level of fuel put into the aircraft at re-fuel could be selected  (which seems reasonable... the techs just pour more or less fuel in) and whether or not you actually wanted to load bombs and rockets again (which would take longer to re-arm).

I thought it was a great idea... but alas, HTC do not agree.

It would be great to take 75% fuel in a 109, fly to a fight.... find that you've only got enough fuel for a short fight..... RTB and refuel with 100% instead. Perhaps a 10 second time penalty could be added or something...

Eh... it sounded pretty definite when they said no last time.
