The whole notion that one breed of dog is more prone to attack over anouther is a bunch of crap. I grew up with Labs, my best friend from age 7 through high school had a Chow and a Rottweiler, and my ex wife and I had a Pit Bull/Shepard mix for 15 years and raised both our kids with that dog. I've had many, many friends over the years that owned "vicious" dogs.
I've been bitten by a dog one time in my entire life after living around all breeds of dogs my entire life. Wanna guess which one bit me? My Labrador Retriever when I was 14 bit me on my arm. 8 stiches and still have a scar.
It's not the dog, it's the owner.
You're blinded by your affection for your pets. Some breeds have always been known to have dangerous temperments. Yes there are exceptions, but behaviors usually breed true.
My favorite example - my neighbors bought a little sheep dog (looked like a small collie) for their kid. They got the dog as a very small pup so it had zero training, and it had never ever seen any livestock or seen any working dog in it's life. But the temperment bred true... That fool dog would literally run her feet bloody running circles around the neighbor's boy. If the kid was in the pool, the dog would run laps around the pool until there was a trail of little bloody pawprints circling the pool deck. If the family was at home, the dog would bark herself hoarse at anything that came within 50 ft of the fence. If the family was away, the dog would sit very sadly under the patio cover, permitting me to care for her and feed her, but when the family came home I was just another wolf trying to get at her flock of sheep.
Don't try to spread any nonsense about how it's the owner not the dog. While there are of course exceptions, behavior and temperment breeds true and certain mixes are especially likely to have extreme behaviors. Breed a bit of wolf into just about anything, and sit back to watch the fun...
