Trust me, ANY kind of jug expecting to get separation from a 51 or F4 by diving is going to be surprised (the bad kind)

Agreed.  The F4U-1A, P-51D, and P-47N are all about equal in dive acceleration.

When ya hit 500+...MAAAYYYYbe there are a couple things jug might do better, not sure

(The fact that I don't inherently KNOW the answer is a problem in itself)

The P-47N does out-roll the P-51D and F4U at 400mph+.

I don't understand why there are so many posts about what to do with the Pony on your six...If you've got something on your six in a Jug, HOPE that it is a P-51. Mustang doesn't roll or turn quite as well as the Jugs (The latter of which is absurd, but hey, you got to drive the planes as they are modeled). It doesn't have cannons. And while it does have a climb rate/acceleration advantage (what doesn't, vs. a Jug?), it doesn't out-do the Jug in those areas of performance as much as many other planes do.
