Hit rock bottom
« on: February 07, 2009, 09:44:09 AM »
I think Ive finally hit rock bottom and my AH can't get any worse, I put out 3 examples

1 Trying to take a65 an island I think, there were about 10 of us, trying to get the town down while the goon is on the way, I hear someone yelling over vox get the buildings down, we are allready working the town while our general was doing nothing but vultching the base wouldn't help with the town pure vultching and that's it.  Afterwards he lands with never helping at the town makes a crack about no capture then gets applauded by several for landing his kills.  Just struck me really ironic.

2 Was about 7k in a KI84 when I meet up with a Spit16, we bob and weave for a few minutes, really good fight, I'm using the KI's vertical and keeping alt, hes getting slower and lower.  I come down for what I'm sure is my last little swoop and loop before the kill and whats mr 16 do?  He points his nose up just long enough to HO me, fights over.

3 Same KI84 allmost the same alt around 7k I meet an FWA5, a good fight for a KI, again we bob and weave for several minutes another really good fight, I'm on his six getting close for the kill shot, I follow him down we go back up both getting slower and slower and right near the top when I'm ready to trigger him he drops his wheels I ram him and I'm done back to the tower I collided he gets the kill.

Maybe this isn't coming accross in print the way it felt but I dam near quit on the spot. Seems like to many nights are ending up leaving me feeling like this. Frustrated

Sorry no films, either rip me for whinning or tell me youve had the same, but say something, been playing AH or AW since 95 (with plenty of breaks) still love the game but just cant get a handle on finding the fun and getting fired up about taking off.

the solution for this is simple, find a good mate, or even better a group of mates (squad) and start flying with a wingman or a division
2 things will happen:
A. you will get more kills and die less
B. you will have more fun chatting and babbling with your buds.

IMHO the 2nd reason is the key

AH is a mass multiplayer game. that means its PLAYER not game oriented.
or in other words its the people who makes AH what it is.

i know for sure that the only reason i still play this game, and keep coming for more is the people who makes the community. the friends ive made in my years as a flight sim junky and the fun of meeting new friends and competing against other people.

Hope that helps  :)

Fly a Spit 9, climb to 20k, and attack someone below.  If you don't win quick, get away, climb up and start over.

A few days ago I augered while trying to vulch an ltv, crashed into my prey, and blew myself up dropping an egg. Apparently 600ft in the air can be horizontal as well as vertical. All within about 30 minutes. Was depressing. Oh well I'm back at it again today.

Try and remember the good fights that you've had.  I'm sure they out number the bad ones, as you've described.  I'm always getting ho'd, because I refuse to fire first on a head-to-head pass.  By doing that though, I've had some incredible fights with guys/gals that don't fire on the ho either.

I know how u feel man. I left the game for a lil while do to boredom and lack of decent fights. When I came back I thought things might have changed, but now realized they haven't. I really have to thank my squad Righteous Vengenance without them I think I would have left AH for good. Try to find some buddies to wing up with I think you will enjoy AH alot more <S>.

#1.  That's exactly how you learn who's mishuns not to join.  If "the general" is consistent, he can vultch all alone.

#2.  After bobbing and weaving long enough, if the HO is the only shot you're going to get before you die, you have to take it.  The secret is avoiding said shot when it comes at you.

#3.  Just bad luck.  I always figure the amount of times I collided and died or pinged someone up and they didn't die are more than offset by the times I collide and live or get that lucky kill with my final tater.  It really does go both ways, sometimes.

Keep at it.  Fly with different people.  Switch arenas.  Switch countries.  Sometimes you just have a bad night, sometimes you can't miss.

Dude, I totally understand as well as empathize with your position..  Let's be realistic.......I think as time goes by, this will only get worse as the actual essence (air-to-air combat aspect) of the game gets less and less important than winning the war..  It sucks to know there are fewer potentially good fights ahead than there are behind..    I'm more than happy to lose every fight as long as there was a good fight..  But this stuff where the guy basically gets lucky while flying a trainer and ho's/rams or has his entire squad rescue him from a legit 1v1: it's just disillusioning..
Call it a whine or call it what ever you need to get around the issue and avoid addressing the issue....
It all comes down to this: can you justify paying $15 a month (50 cents a day) to get let down 9 out of 10 sorties?
I can swing it for now..  In the future, who knows....   :(

But who is dogfigting getting less important than the war for? Certainly not me. You make the game the way you want it by acting the way you want yourself, if enough of us are interested in dogfighting then how can the game not be about it? Stop playing in the MAIN ARENA and go to the correct arena for dogfighting, the DA. Failing that, the speacial events calendar is jam packed.
Seriously folks, If you are not finding fun dogfighting everytime you log in then you are only taking part in the peak time MA lemmings and missing out on the old school element completely.

Just got in, it was my grandsons 4th birthday today, nice party about 25 people, all 4 of the Grandkids were there along with all 5 of my kids good time. (That's what 33 years investment in a marriage to a good wife will get you)

Topped the nite off with about a half dozen O Bombs he he.  (Bacardi O and some energy drink)

Gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised by the responses, all you guys are right, and I really appreciate it.

Maybe I just need to get my head out of my arse and get at it.
