To some extent personal preference comes into play. I dont see the screen that well and just cant make the long shots with cannon mounted on aircraft. I prefer high angles of attack and shooting at 300 to 500k. I just popped a Tiger with one short 37mm burst, coming down in the vertical and hitting him on top from close in, 300 to 400. Theres no way I can do that from 600 out so I just dont see the point in keeping my convergence out that far. Ive tried it, and each time I crept it back to 400 where I'm going to keep it.
No question a 600 or 650 is better for fighting other aircraft. But I set it up for GVs.
400k probably isn't a good convergence for others. But for me it works.
actually, 350 to 450 is better for air to air. the only time that having convergence set really far out is good, is when you have a runner. then ya try to force a mistake or a turn out of him......anything to make him bleed speed.
most of my kills come from shots that are well under 500. in furballs, some are under 300. i do best with those quick crossing shots...you know..the ones you don't really have time to aim? you just kinda point your nose, where it "feels" good, and pop off a few rounds. i've killed sooooo many in my hurri2 that way. i'm learning different fighting styles now, though in the ole 38 o deth. can't fight as slow as i could in the hurri, or even in the hellkitty.
