I'd vote for double points if you get the pilot before he pulls the rip chord. Otherwise you should get just an extra 50% beyond the points recieved for downing his plane.

All depends on who's chute it was. Hmmm if it was Nath's chute triple points, Towd's double and so on.

Do you all realize that now there is a good reason to shoot up chutes? :P

They get less perk points.

people bail when shot down to avoid a death
being put on thier K/D. if they bail and land
safe, then no death for the pilot is recorded, just a shot down and bailed.

The damaging of chutes should just be done away with except for drunks.  No bigger lack of respect for an opponent imo that shooting him after you got the kill.

And for those that like it...try FAII..you'd be right at home there in the arcade rooms.

Who says you have to be the one who shot them down in order to be the one who shoots their chute?!?

A chute kill must AT LEAST deduct points from the guy getting killed, if not additionally give extra points to the guy relieving him of the silk. That is, if in fact you lose more points for dying altogether in your plane, (ala double death) which is the way I understand it. I could be wrong, how is that scored now, and what will change?

It's only fair that way. Guys that refuse to bail will pay the price, guys that bail will have to acquire the skill of pulling at the last second, or hope it's a sappy pilot who wants to discuss his wonderful understanding of respect and chivalry.

Hell, I do that anyways.  Its kinda fun tempting fate at the end of a long sky dive.  Its at least something to do since you just lost your airplane.

I suppose I am not the only one who has managed to open his chute and float down inverted?

Hans.

Whels, what I meant is that you are denying the other guy points, when you shoot his chute.

Look at the description of scoring in 1.05 that Ronni posted in the news section a few days back.
KillScore =
((AirKillsThisSortie * 1.0) + (AirAssistsThisSortie * 0.25) +
(GroundKillsThisSortie * 1.0) + (GroundAssistsThisSortie * 0.25) * DeathMult) +
TotalTourKillScore

Notice in particular, the DeathMult, which is a standard multiplier depending on how you end your mission.

Death Multipliers
Landed 1.0
Discoed 0.25
Bailed 0.5
Ditched 0.75
Captured 0.4
Killed 0.25
Crashed 0.25

So basically, if you kill a guy's chute, you are denying him %25 of his point total for that mission.

It almost OBLIGATES you to now shoot a chute

I haven't been a chute shooter. Just always seem to be in the middle of a furball with bigger problems.

However.........

nailing a bailer from a perked plane certainly has an appeal.

Anyone know if we can practice offline?

Hey, HTC, how about chutes drifting down over one of the offline fields?
