My 11 ruels to drive a tank in AH

maybe here is something interestenig for you

The 11 rules which should be considered when you're driving a tank in AH.

-Camouflage:

you need to use dark skins, works best in the AH
Landscape, see the dark green of the n Firefly.

-Election of the Action area:

Ordonance should be down in the area.
The area also should offer some Woods and Hills.
This simplifies the posibility to be snacky and gives you the posibility of an Overview over the gel walls.

-If posible be never alone:

if no squadi is in the area, there should be some other Knights around. Not because thay take care of you. Its because you can find easy enemy gvs will thay are shooting your frinds.

 if you are on the way with your squadis you should  be three together. Always on one line. one secure forward and the other two on each side.
moving alone  makes no sense, because the opponent is in a good position which has only entrenched About pleased. Thats why, if you die whait for you 2 budys and roll again.

-Respecting the cloverleaf:

About every tank floats a 4 leafed cloverleaf, the leafs are at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees. Only the enemy tanks within the leafs may pose a danger there. Form and size of  the leaf depends to the respective Opponent. So, the Tigers almost like a 3 leafed cloverleaf if the opponents is t34. The t34 is  hardly capable of the tiger head to crack. The Firefly, the already quite
different there are four full leafed. So if there is an enemy into the cloverleaf area you only need to make a small move to the  the left or right and the opponent has a smaller  chance to break yourself

-Position of the turet:

Especially for German tanks (in AH) the turret should be always at half 11 o clock  or half 2 o clock,. If the tank so the adversary it is hard to crack, only the tower is in trable

-Fire Position:

If so desired? Hlt be obtained at any time immediately after the rear or side to dodge, and so m? Resembled quickly from the
Fire area to come. (The edge of a forest is pretty good)

-Hill backside position:
Whenever possible should this type of position desired. With this position  only the turet looks over the hill so the tank gives only a very small target. However, the turret should also
 refer to half 11 or half-2 o,clock,.

-Position change !!!!

You should never do more than 3 shoots from the same position. Surely if an adversary is comeing to you, you need to kill him first, but after he is destroyed you should pull away fast. Because you never know how many pairs of eyes have seen this fire fight. You should use a little time and drive  into the back  to look for a new place to look.

Listening-stop!:

In AH, you can listening damn good and damn well, it is also advisable to down load the other sounds. So you are able to knew type, number and direction of the enemy tanks recognize.

-Ambush:
Whenever  Possible should the opponent past you, so you can kill him from behind. First, the opponent is behind only poorly armored, and secondly, he has so little chance to recognize where it came from. Ambush is the Kingclasse of snaky position choice.

-Starting Fire:

If an enemy tank is in your gun-optik and this tank didnt have notice you, you should spent some time to look around because its always posible that another enemy tank already around and knew your
own position..

If you try to stay close to these rules and consequently drive your tank with a lot of time and patience and not for the fast kill. Than you should have an over 80% live guarante. The other 20% are puting your tank on the roof or somebody still have a bomb for you or anyone is still more patient than you.


But unfortunately I'm usually not so disciplined LoL

I knew my english is bad and these text is maybe hard to understand for you guys. I made thes ruls in german at my site for my squad. maybe you find a better translation program.

Most players get so wrapped up in frontal assault, that they forget that their tank can be used as if a "sniper" with a 75mm cannon!

And do yourself a favor, if IL-2s are around. Back up against a tree if you are going to sit and volley, preferably the tallest tree you can find. Same goes for sitting in town, wedge yourself between buildings. The more you can take away the high/rear angle of attack from an IL-2 the longer you'll survive. Best to bring flak with you anyways, and keep the flak to your rear about 300 to 500 away.

And do not outrun your flak. Almost always tanks separate themselves from their flak.

There is a Tiger skin that does a real good job of camo too. :salute Good thread.

Very nice writeup Chris3.  One thing I think you should add into this is... when you are stopped somewhere waiting on the enemy, shut off your engine.  You did sort of mention stopping to listen, but make sure your engine is off while you are stopped.

I cant believe the amount of tankers who go off either stalking or hiding from enemy and leave their engine running.  :D

Another good idea is to try and become more proficient with your pintle and main gun as an AA weapon. I  bet about 90% of people upping IL's or other such can openers trying to kill you will come in low enough to get clean shot off with your turret.  Also don't forget you can fire your MG's from the turret view by pressing the secondary fire button. (this will only work if your main gun is functional) HE rounds do more damage than AP but both will get the job done. A T34 has the the widest range of turret angles and is good to use as practice. However in a panz or tiger you will have a better opportunity to get two shots in depending on how far way you started shooting. Have a friend help you by flying at you and letting you test out different angles and zooms and distances til you find one you are comfortable with. Personally, more than once I have hit a plane over 2.5K  away from me with my turret. B25's are nice for this since they have a large profile. Hitting one that far is less of the norm than much closer but it certainly can be done.

Not only does it shorten the fight for the other guy but he will think twice when attacking again. If he decides to come in on an angle you can't get with your turret, fire that pintle like mad. Some good things to aim for are the engines and the pilot. A pilot wound can end his run real nicely. One trick I have been trying to perfect is aiming for the gondolas on the IL, disabling those bad boys will make an IL just a flying husk

Granted I'm no expert but it certainly does work

yeah maingun and pintle gun practice-I like firing on the big radial engines or go for pilot wound.I always use he  on em-you can tell pilots that have bad experience as they will use a steep angle.another tactic is to fire an he round into the ground opposite approach shot as they pass over.The blast will knock them out of the sky

I'm speaking from the perspective of the guy in the air, in a tank killer, coming in on your tank. In that regard going in against a tank parked in a hangar, while in an IL-2 or 25H, is about as much fun as walking barefoot on hot tar. I'm always surprised more tankers dont park themselves in hangars. We have some tank gunners in this game who will kill you all day long if you come in low and flat against them and allow them to use their main guns. I know Ive sat in that main gun and that IB IL-2 looks like a big turkey coming in flat.

If you know exactly where in the hanger they are just drop the bomb on them.  It kills them just as though they are in the open.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.
