iTunes problem
« on: February 10, 2009, 04:57:02 PM »
Opened up iTunes today and saw that I have no music/vids/podcasts/nothing. I tried opening the .lib file (itunes library). and it still shows nothing. I'm really unaware of what has happened, but EVERYTHING is now gone and I can't seem to get it back.

I downloaded it on my old PC, saw how nasty of a resource hog it was.   It was removed 10 minutes later.

I store mine on a 320GB WD Passport.

Gah. Too bad iTouch can't be used like a regular MP3 player. Copy songs on and off, etc. I like it, but I am really mind boggles and quite PO'd that this happened.

If someone else plugged their iPod into your computer you are screwed.

Each instance of iTunes will only sync to one iPod.  If you plug another iPod into your computer and you have it set to automatically sync, your entire library will be deleted.  It's their way of cutting down on file sharing.

when you connect your ipod, go into its options menu and make sure "manually manage songs" is selected

That's dumb...  Hell there should be a law against doing that.  :furious  Some kind of programming ethics violation or something  :)

A warning saying 'sorry operation is not allowed' should be enough....

It's really too bad when you have to go searching around the intardnet to find an illegal hack just to make your MP3 player work like it should have in the first place.

It's really too bad you didn't look at other MP3 players that don't have these DRM issues.

Agree.   90% of the almost 100GB of Music I have on my portable HD, are rips from my own CD collection.   They are not shared on the Internet and never will be.

I forgot about the One iPod thing.   I'd bank on that is exactly what happened.

I already did that, then I can just drag songs BACK into my library?
