4th Guards Tank Brig., 2nd Guards Tank Corps, Byelorussia 1944
« on: February 11, 2009, 03:20:01 PM »
New T34/85 I wanted to speak up for.  I have had a few people in the arena ask me to skin a green one as they say the brown one is too stale for their taste.  She is not finished (you can see the painted numbers and such complete vs. the uncompleted broad white lines.)  One question I do have is the color of green I used.  I thought it to be too light.  However, researching Russian paint for tanks this seems to be the RGB match.  Opinions?  I ,by no means, feel myself a tank expert and could use the community expertise.

I will also be mudding the bottom portion of the chassis (more mud at bottom and thinning toward the top.)

Its looking good Redhawk.

The white stripes are a bit too stark IMO. Maybe feather the edges a bit and move them down a few layers below the surface effects and panel lines.

Yeah, shouldn't the white lines look more like the numbers?

Also look at it in game, I find that sometimes changes the appearance of the overall color.  Leastwise it seemed so on the Fireflys.

Nicely done btw.

lol.  Its fine gents  :D  Fencer, great tip on the in-game look vs the viewer.  Dramatic difference.

Something strange and I am hoping Im just overlooking it in a moment of stupidness.  I cant get an outside view in the game to check out panel lines and such (you know..f3 button.)  I know its because its a GV vs an airplane, but am I able to look at the outside in-game (offline?)

Here we go gents.  I decided NOT to go with the mud effect I talked about for 2 reasons.

1.  People had asked specifically for a green version.  Decided not to put brown mud on it.
2.  Man there are a lot of parts you have to mud individually if you want to mud it

Anyway, I have completed her.  I will leave her up for a couple of days to see if anyone notices anything I should do to it.  4 pics attached to check out.

I like the white cross on top of the tank, should make for easier bombing when the tank has cross hairs painted on it.  :rofl

Jokes aside, it looks great! I wish I had the talent to skin...

Redhawk nice work sir. I saw that tank while researching and really liked it. Should be a much better fit in the MA with the Irish green landscape :) I agree, If there are more skins pump em out. No sure how the "winter" version would do. maybe back it up against a gray building. Anyway good work and cant wait till it makes it into the game. hOw long does that usually take from submittal until its actually accepted and downloaded?
