The performance would be pretty decent in the EW, but with only a pair of 12.7mm she'll be an assist queen. She'll be totally outmatched in the Mid and Late War arenas, unless as you said we get some later models.

However she is CRITICALLY important for historical setups: FSO, Snapshots, scenarios, etc.

Isn't the 12.7mm in the KI-43-IC and later?

If I remember right the KI-43-I only sports a pair of 7.7mm, the KI-43-IB had a 7.7mm and a 12.7 mm.

I found the following link on KI-43 armament if interested.

yes, I think the japanese planeset needs a big boost

And Russian. But yes, I'd say both are high priority.

I support it's addition to the inventory, but will rely on HTC to decide it's priority.

Actually I can take out anything I can saddle up on in about 50-60 rds in the SBD. Given the tremendous acceleration the oscar has I think it will be pretty deadly in a furball.

I know there are others needed first but another Japanese plane missing from
from the set that should be added is the A6M3 IMO.

Depends what model.  The Model 32 had a better roll rate and dive speed than the earlier models due to its smaller size at the expense of decreased maneuverability and range than earlier models.  It also had a rather brief production run with less than 350 made.

The Model 22 however corrected a lot of the deficenies found in the Model 32 and added some minor improvements like new hard points for drop tanks under each wing.  Its production run was slightly larger than the Model 32 with over 500 made.  There was even one version (for evalutaion and testing only, never saw operational service) that had a 30mm cannon and was designated the A6M3b (Model 22b).

One thing's for certain, the Japanese Early and Mid War sets are in desperate need of attention (the large numbers of A6M5s we had in the recent Bougainville FSO would have been much better represented by A6M3 Model 22s, with  a scant handful of A6M5s).

Not really for the J2M3.

J2M3 was armed with two 20mm Type 99 Model 2s (as on the N1K2-J and A6M5) and two 20mm Type 99 Model 1s (as on the A6M2).

The less common J2M3a was armed with four 20mm Type 99 Model 2s (as on the N1K2-J and A6M5).

It is also a smaller aircraft so its ammo loads are probably modest.
