Hi
What do you think about the following air-race game/sim/study idea?
Planes
A single engine, prop(contra optional) driven, traditional design, solo plane.
Tracks
The Reno ovals, Red Bull gate courses and canyon routes.
The race season
One season includes a races on different tracks.
Game play
The first race season is a rookie season and user will get a small and not so fast plane without any options. This season just to teach different issues, like smooth controlling and a race line.
When user can make a one lap under certain time on each track, the user is ready for the next plane. Very easy to achieve.
New race season starts with a preseason period and user will get a new plane with new a engine. This plane is a base version and good to go... But
The user can redesign the plane (within limits):
- Air-foil
- Wing size
- Wing aspect ratio
- Elevator, aileron and rudder size
- Angle of Incidence
- Top/mid/low wing
- Fuselage length
- CG position
- single or contra prop
How to design a plane, which perform well enough in Reno but as well in Red Bull style race and in everything between? Use can't alter the design during the season.
Of course it would be also possible to design a single race specials just for fun but these can't use for the race season.
That's the baseline idea.
