The P-51D was given highspeed flaps, so that it could improve its turn.  It was common for 51 drivers over Europe to drop flaps a notch as they were tailing a turning 109, giving them that extra degree of angle for the shot.  It was advised that this setting be used only when it was needed, and raised again immediately afterward.

I did read the posts, be it at 5am. I was on the first day of the newest ver, and got air frame damage at a little over 450. I read in the test buffer, after asking the question, that 450 was the limit. I may have done something to make the damage on that flight. I will test this further.

just FYI, the redline for the P51D is 505 indicated.  This doesn't mean you can honk it around at that speed and not hurt it, though. A big help will be modeling drag from the prop at idle.  Right now it's really hard to go down and not exceed redline.  The thing glides like a jet transport, too.
