I feel your pain. There was that threshold that you learned to stretch and enjoy, at times you got bumped and bruised (some of us a bit worse) but thought nothing of it. Now adays you probably feel those moments every day just a little bit, even more the older you get.

I can't remember what I did, but at times I do something that reminds me of what I did and it's happy time.
I would probably still do that even to this day, hell I would even get into serious shape to do it, But I don't think I would fly that close to ANYTHING.
THINK ABOUT IT...the guy probably flew that route a bunch of times and had helicopter footage etc. And then eventually got the guts to fly a certain pattern.
Now imagine that overnight wind, a bird, rot, animal climbing etc - bends a tree branch down to an area that he didn't expect -
THAT would hurt!. I think these guys use the chute as a false sense of security, when you are going sideways toward a wall, a chute is only going to cover some of the guts so that it's still youtubable.
