Individual Radio and radar damage
« on: February 15, 2009, 08:46:48 PM »
Anyone wonder why damage to an individual plane's radio or radar is excluded?  It's nice we have radar, and I know its been explained why we do, but it should be a luxury that can be taken away.  It sure would suck to have to find your base by sight, hoping your SA left you where you thought you were.  I think it'd be a nice addition.  Also, no chute should have vox.

A bonus is that nobody would embarrass or annoy you about how they died at least for that first few moments when Fbombs usually fly.  :D  <<I am guilty.

i honestly cant think of an objection...

maybe ppl wouldn't venture from their own base as much? I duno..

some of the maps maybe also dont have as much topographical detail as would be needed to navigate...

First, if you show me how to stop time around me so I can play the game without any interference from RL,  I'll have plenty of time to pay attention to my location SA :)

Second, this is just a game, we're here to relax and have fun, not be deprived of our right to "freedom of speech."

We may be trying to simulate WWII aerial combat, but until we can actually sit in the cockpit and shoot/get shot at without actually killing anyone we'll have to compensate for things such as having only one(3) computer screen(s) to see through.

I like the idea. Radio gets shot up, can't hear or transmit vox. And, to simulate being completely "out of contact" (since we still have text, obviously), you also lose the constantly updated plane location icon on the clipboard map.

Well not a bad idea thing is though. Say someone's radar and vox does go out all he has to do is type to a squaddie and ask for him to lead him back to base. Also for those who don't care to go back to base they will just bail and magically get a new plane. I don't think this will happen. <S>

I lose vox all the time on tuesdays
Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.
