Pyro answers: "Like you, I never answer 'when' questions. Besides, of all the Doras, Tas, Salamanders, Komets, Pfeils, Schwalbes...we have to give LW folks at least one uber ride. How about 262 ?"

Then they both just laugh

I reckon the P-47 would be more interesting, since in AH people climb high alot - imagine the nasty suprise they'll get at +30k when they run into a Jug.

And in this game, there are definitely 25-30k fights.

Why always P-38 P-38 wannawanna..
How about if I wan't Ta152!

Allies should be already happy with their uber stangs and spitfries... oh, and F4u
What axis got is '43 C.205 which get toasted by spit and outclimbed by P-51, not to talk about boom & boom.. then we have N1K2 which seems to be best axis plane with its turning rate and fair climb.
Then comes BF109G10 which seems to be porked in every second release and now its like G10 with G6's engine or F4's..
Fw190A8 misses 15-18mph speed and climbs like rock (wow, after you load P-51 with 75% fuel and 2 drop tanks, you'll find P-51 climbing same rates with 190A8 with 2 20mm and *one* DT! wait a minute, isn't P-51 ALOT heavier after that?)

Now, I like to have that LW uber plane for once, which would be like Ta152 or Fw190D12 or D13, thank you.

Fishu - the current Spitfire isn't even one of the real uberspits. Imagine, if we had the FR.XIVe running on 150 octane fuel - better roll rate, great 6 view, and 400mph at sea level...

Ehh,
Fishu the only thing uber about the F4U in this game is the unlimited supply. Other than that it makes a uber tow target.

Juzz: at least Spit XIV doesn't turn like zeke
Current Spitfrie is more of zeke that goes fast, climbs fast and has better guns. (try go with that..)

Who said F4u is uber? not me, but I know one thing, it can go play with spitfrie in turning race and climbs better than Fw190, not to talk about turning.

What's that saying... "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" ? Or in this case, the F-4, G-2 and G-6

ps: It's not "109 whine", it's "Luftwhine"

I do....

But, why does most every aircraft thread have to migrate into a sounding board for?
1) 109  (pro's)
2) 190  (pro's)
3) 51   (con's)
4) Spit (con's)

So boring....

I am / was interested in P-38 information from this thread.  Sadly, this thread no longer deals with the P-38.

How refreshing it might be to actualy adhere somewhat, to the aircraft topic at hand.

I must be in the minority here... I like the 109 as it is now! And yes, I do fly it and every other plane.

I don't know every minutae of every aircraft (did the 109G-10R6 have an ashtray on the left or right side of the cockpit?   ) but I know enough to know the performance isn't that far off that every time someone mentions the modelling of an aircraft someone has to come in and pop off the old "youthinkthat'sbadthe109ispporkedbecauseitdoesn'tclimbfastenough".

Gee whiz! The original post was about the P-38, and it turns into another tired rant about the 109/190. It seems like the only thing that can drown out the whine of an overspeeding prop in a dive is the whine of some of our LW pilots (who sport impressive k/d ratios as it is).
