Haven't seen the Castrol, commercial yet but I think of the "Men can take anything, except the taste of diet cola..." commercial :rofl http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=51559196  every time Scotch rips my wings off or flames my engine.... I want to broadcast on range....."I'm the MAN....... I'm good  :aok"

Squelching Range would be useful in missions, but also annoying to countrymen trying to coordinate.  You will miss out on some 6 calls or other warnings, like there is a Tiger at the maproom!

You might even miss out on Nemrod singin  :o his drunken German song, or Magnetic Mary On My Dashboard (I think that should be recorded as a check 6 and played on every mission, to get the troops morale up  :rock )

It needn't even be considered misanthropic, sometimes you just want to be in the hunt alone with just your engine sounds.
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

I admit my posted reasons aren't very friendly, but there are many others reasons that justify this. Most everyone has thought about it at one time or another.

make it to where you can squelch Range, GVers  and planes.
Cause GVers cant hear GVs due to the flyboys running off out the mouth.
And flyboys cant hear due the GVers running off out the mouth. :D
and i hate Range channel.

This would actually be true to the way things were done. Comms between air and ground units was almost always done by special teams with special equipment and was not usually possible between individual vehicles and planes because of the different types of radios used.

Even a programmable key/button that squelches the current speaker would be nice.

So.. you hear sombody you don't like, hit the key and silence.

Less effort than having to see who it was, how to spell their names, and all that .squelch ... typing.

I agree with the idea.  The ability to squelch what you want to squelch, when you want to squelch it would be nice.

Funny thing APDrone. I started a new thread in Wishlist just this afternoon suggesting this very thing, without having first read your post. Great minds think alike huh? :rock

Slightly off topic but similar in nature... I asked if it were possible to have effect audio on one device and vox on another. That would give you the same affect you are looking for and me too (i.e. duplication of a cockpit environment) but Skuzzy says Windows would give fits over it.  :frown:
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.
