It's an awesome film.

If anything, Shifty, the Wartime Corsairs were even more maneuverable than the one in the film. I mean, warbird pilots are often warned not to pull these vintage planes too far into the envelope, but in war, they could do just about anything to survive.

The main reason why people really think our Corsair is way too much of a UFO is likely because they haven't tried hitting the CV deck at stall speed, keeping the plane manually trimmed in accordance with the the pilot's manual.

I actually am just starting to get the most out of my Corsair, and still have a lot to learn.
I used to thump around only in the D model but the last month and a half I've discovered the -1 and -1A.
After years of flying this sim and it's two older brothers I've finally found a plane I absolutely love to fly constantly.
I wouldn't call it a UFO though. However it stacks up well against any plane in the sim IMO.

The video is just awesome to me, the few chances I've had to see WWII era fighters being flown, the display is normally
much more docile than the one in the vid.

I love the 1A. itd my main ride. probabyy 95% of my flying. I'd love to get THAT engine sound ingame!

Gotta admit I love the sound of merlins -- one of my all time favorite moments was hearing a Lancaster warm up and take off. But while the Merlin sounds like a sweetly tuned instrument, the Corsair's double banked radial just growls with raw power. Love em both!

Interesting to note...everybody remarks on the sound...but no one seems to have noted where the sound comes from...for inquiring minds...that low howl and hi pitched whine you hear is the result of the intercooler screens located at the inboard leading edge of the wing.... in case anyones interested.
