Wind3.wav is REALLY close, and I think the pitch is about right. It could maybe be a TEENY bit louder, but otherwise I think that's it.

I used the supercharger whine I have for the 109's and modified the pitch and time on it.  I then combined them into the wind.wav file.  All the flyby's I have which is 4 of them by a f4u-4 doesn't produce that sound like the you tube file.  But it does have more of a High pitch supercharger whine as it approaches.  Not sure why there be a difference unless it because of the air temp, speed of the plane, maybe he wasn't pushing it to create such a suction in the air intake, who knows, lol. :aok

The F4U-4 moved the oil cooler from the wingroots to the chin scoop, right? Maybe some change in the plumbing or structure of those wingroot intakes had an effect that altered the sound of air moving through them?

I've read that the whistle sound is created by airflow rushing through the gun barrels, and has nothing to do with the supercharger.

I've never heard gun barrels, and I can't picture a howl THAT loud being caused by air through the barrels.

I'd think you'd hear that howl with every plane if it was the gun barrels. I'd also think any noise through the barrels would be higher pitched.

Sax,

what sound do you currently use for the Corsair's engine running sound?

After my computer crashed, I was able to rummage through and replace EVERY one of my plane sounds with the same ones or better compared to what I was using prior to my comp crash...

...except for that is, my F4U's and 109's.

If anyone has some really spectacular sounds for those two planes' engines, I'd appreciate it if you could upload it.

For the interior engine sound I used one of the ones AKDogg posted in the Sketchworks 2009 thread. It was a separate file, not part of the actual sound back.

It is in the soundpack now.

The only file that isn't the soundpack is the wind sound that is posted here.

Well I'm guessing that the sound is only caused at certain AoA. If it was the super charger, then wouldn't you hear it all the time ?

No because of its placement.  Sound would be blocked by plane if u listen from the rear.  The sound we talking about is coming from the Air duct.  On -4 hog though, it doesn't make that sound.  What u do here on the -4 though is more of the supercharger probably due to it be larger then the other hogs.
